I _hate_ automated telephone menus so much. You spend an age going through multiple levels of menu, then you end up at a 'dead end' option that just gives you a recorded message telling you something useless, and then says 'goodbye' and disconnects you and you have to call back and start again at the top level menu.

And invariably if you ever do get through to an actual human it's the wrong department and they have to transfer you somewhere else, whereupon the interminable robo-menu hell starts again.

It's like a particularly-annoying puzzle game you have to play before earning the right to actually speak to someone.

One of my banks has switched to some sort of AI. It even refuses to let me get to the menu. It will keep asking me questions. I will keep telling it to let me speak to the operator. No dice. Last time (and hopefully the last time I have to ever call it again), I had to lie that I wanted to reset my PIN number and then I think it transferred me to an operator so she could ask me some verification questions and that's how I got to tell her what my actual problem was (regarding debit card delivery). The damn AI even lied to me about my debit card being delivered. The operator told me that the card was going to be delivered two weeks later.

UPS probably has one that is specifically designed to make the caller go elsewhere to attempt to contact them, be it the local branch or writing.

Going through a complicated menu tree I accidentally hit the admin menu one time to actually configure the phone system. No idea how I got there but I thought it was kind of funny.

Google has a feature on its pixel phones where Google's systems are dialing every toll-free number and if it has a menu system it will already know the options and have a menu for you so you can press the button without having to listen to everything. All goes into Google's databases and the phone gets it when you call

They still have more to go but it's going to be really good. Of course if you're dialing a non toll free number then it's not going to work

Trying to figure out dosbox and play star trek tng final unity. I actually just want to install the game and see if there's any voicepacks I can extract, but my mind's scattered, and I don't have the patience to figure out the install procedure, or where it puts installed files. I've apparently created a C: drive somewhere and installed files to it, but damned if I can find it on my system.

You're the man IW! Now I need to figure out exactly what I did here. I may have to delete everything and start over. I wasn't expecting it to install in the game directory. I guess that's why you should read the docs, eh? :^D

Closer, but no sound...

Doesn't look like I'll be able to pull sound files. Most of the file extensions don't even showup on wikipedia. No idea what they are. Maybe the game will be fun if I get everything working.

You might try loading the helix player and see if that gives you access to the rm codecs. I'm skeptical that it will help if dosbox is fully sandboxed.

Dunno how, but a hax0r person in China or somewhere got ahold of my saved passwords file from Chrome and tried to access everything they could. I changed the passwords, but apparently missed a few. Anywho here's the 2nd part of the 1stworldproblem with that. I know that files gotta have good encryption, kudos to Google for their security I guess?

One I missed was a credit card I totally forgot I even had. This hax0r logged in it, and changed the email address on file, the home address on file and the telephone number on file. Apparently, they (Milestone) have no type of fraud detection what-so-ever because they saw no red flag here on their end. The IP was nowhere near anywhere in the US. Oh yeah, they also requested a new card sent to the new address. From what I see from some of the emails I get about "is this you?" when a site detects a suspicious login attempt. The IP's are never anywhere in the US. They're China, Egypt, Dubi, just a bunch of random places. Maybe Milestone thought I moved to China and decided to change everything on my account lol. In contract, if I attempt to log in my Jack In The Box account with a device they don't recognize from my own IP, I gotta do 2 step verification. Before I found out the account had been accessed, the person also added a bank account and made a $1044.19 payment, not sure what exactly they were doing. But I doubt it was done out of the goodness of their heart to help me out lol. If this was all a robot with some sort of advanced hax0r AI, I'm impressed. Pretty sure whoever that bank account belonged to their bank will be contacting the card company which will be contacting me. I had forgot about the card to the point I hadn't made a payment since March, but somehow the card hasn't been closed, which seems unusual. Hopefully the card company will be better to deal with when it comes to getting this $1200 payment reversed than they were with detecting the obvious fraud they were oblivious to.

Also, I'm still getting text notifications a few times a week from Amazon and Paypal about one time login code requests and to ignore if it's not me. Like I've literally gotten 2 or 3 dozen from each. These people, or probably bots don't seem to give up. It was over a month ago they got access to my shit.

They also got on my Bestbuy account and somehow managed to place a successful order for Air Pod Pros, with a card that has zero available balance. And apparently, Bestbuy.com also has extremely great fraud protection in place like Milestone. As they saw no problem with an order placed from TAIWAN and shipped to Texas. I live in So Cal, I suppose I could have been ordering a gift for a friend in Texas, and I just happened to be in Taiwan when I did it. I called and managed to get the order canceled, but it was in the process of being pulled and boxed to ship. I'm doubly impressed by how the hax0r somehow managed to order a $250 item on a card with $0 free on it. And no, I don't have any sort of overdraft protection.

Signal got rid of SMS support so I have to use another app. Signal was the only SMS app that actually worked properly on my phone. The other ones, I keep re-receiving old texts, or sometimes don't get texts at all. Driving me insane. My phone is constantly getting texts and I don't know which are new and which are old and it makes conversations very confusing. Everyone I know only uses SMS and not Signal itself so using Signal or other app is not really an option, SMS is just more universal.

I might just bite the bullet and go back to a stock rom. This seems to only be an issue with custom roms. I tried Graphene as well as Calyx and it does it on both. For some reason seems to only do it to me since no one else gets this issue.

Ouch that sucks. Kinda makes me wonder how trustworthy the save password feature is in browsers. Browsers are very leaky, super easy for sites to collect info on you using Javascript and other methods.

Yep, saving passwords, addresses, and cc #s are one of the first things that I disable when setting up Firefox.

Deposited a check today, but because I opened the account online earlier this year, when I deposit this check, they put a 48 hold on over half the funds. It's the same check every month, and the same amount. And no it's not a lot, it's less than $1k. They claim So there went half of my Black Friday shopping. Even worse, since it's Saturday, the deposit date will register as monday and funds will be released on the 30th. So I won't even have the money available for Cyber Monday. If I wasn't a broke ass fool I wouldn't be having this 1stworldproblem. But now I gotta wait and pay full price for the Corsair case + AIO I wanted to get today. Also to Corsair your BF deal on the iCUE h100i is a whopping TEN DOLLARS OFF. Really, 10 whole dollars? I hope they don't bankrupt themselves with these deals.

And the 60% Corsair keyboard I bought is damn small, I knew it would be tiny, but actually seeing it in person, shit it's going to probably take me a few weeks to get used to typing on it.

Also, the Razer Blackshark v2 Pro wireless headphones I just bought charge with MICRO USB! It's 2022, and these were released in 2020 and are supposed to be premium. What and the fucking fuck Razer? Now I'm going to have to find another USB port that will end up being tied up with a stupid Micro USB cable just so I can charge these, feels like it's 2015 or someshits.

Stupid Razer...

So you use facebook with all its privacy issues but a reliable sms interface is a step too far.

I mean this is genius level shit.

Some companies are fucking nuts with the micro-usb still. I got the top end Logitech wireless keyboard and it really is fantastic. The best wireless gaming keyboard in existence and priced fookin high. Except for the damn micro usb port. What I do is just keep a power bank tucked away out of sight on my desk with a micro-usb cable in it. When I need to charge the keyboard I just use that and I don't even have to move the keyboard while it charges. Every few weeks I charge the powerbank. No need for annoying and unsightly wires running all over the place and able to be tugged while charging a device.
