Dollar General store brand is the best ketchup I've found. I've tried all the major brands including Red Gold and this is my favorite.
Apparently I'm not the only one. Two stores were sold out completely and a third store was out of the 24oz size. I grabbed a couple of 64 oz jugs though. Why are the bigger bottles priced higher per ounce than the smaller ones?

I was dialing into equipment and guess the number I have is wrong since I heard "Hello!" in the modem and I must have got a random person's phone instead. Freaked me out lol.

Walked up to my apartment door Saturday night. It was about 11pm. I live in the back. Its very dark also. I started to climb the steps and noticed a large furry creature sitting right next to my door. I went right back down stairs. I initally thought that it was the neighbor's cat. I climbed the steps again and started to say "hear kitty kitty." It wasn't a cat at all. But a very large opossum. I ran down the steps and called the police. They came about 30 minutes later. The one police officer had a pole with a rope and lassoed the animal. They dragged it down and took it to the street, and let the animal go. Which was a bad idea, because the opossum climbed my neighbor's steps and was hiding under the patio chair. This was late at night mind you. Oh, and my neighbor's cat was on the porch as well. The cat jumped off the porch. The cops went upstais and took care of the opossum the correct way. They took it to the marsh lands which they should had done in the beginning.

Opossums are actually very passive creatures. They look mean, but the truth is they are actually very harmless. Had no idea.

Why do cables _always_ tangle themselves up with each other, if they are left anywhere in the same drawer or box? If you try putting each of them in their own plastic bag, they escape the bags, and then the bags themselves become part of the entangled mass.

I just throw this out there for anyone writing a sit-com or sketch show - we see a guy putting a device with a cable, neatly wound up, in a draw where we can see another couple of gadgets also in the same drawer. Then 30 seconds later reopens the drawn and all the devices cables are entangled in a single impossible-to-disentangle knot.

This is more of an ongoing first world problem, but I seem to not be able to follow more than 5,000 people on Twitter. That is sorta a hard limit, and I think it changes based on your followers and other algorithm parameters, not sure. I notice the number go down sometimes which lets me follow a few more. I probably need to wait until I hit 5k followers to "unlock" a higher limit. Might be a while, about 800 to go.

I fundamentally don't "get" twitter. The recent exodus to mastodon has gotten my interest. The web should be federated, and if this picks up steam, it might open channels for other federated projects. I've half thought about joining and following some trek focused people, but I keep coming back to "why?". Seems like a frivolous mix of rage machine circle jerk, and trivial fluff.

I never really got it either tbh but got into it, and I don't think it really replaces any other form of social media and is kind of it's own thing. I find it can be good to get news and such and just have quick discussions. And lots of memes. I sometimes use it more as a blog too just to post random stuff.

Ordered a computer case from Amazon last night, 1st time I've ordered shit where it said somebody would have to be here and gave me an OTP to give the driver to verify the delivery. Because of this I chose the Amazon whatever Saturday shit where it'll group all your packages and deliver them all at the same time on Saturday. Because I'll be here that day, now I've used that twice before, and both times nothing came on Saturday, and for the 2nd time I got 3 packages on 3 different days. But whatever, so anyways I got a notification a bit the case has shipped and will be here tomorrow. Which is uh, not Saturday.

I won't be here, which has never been a problem, driver leaves the shit by the door but Googling this OTP for deliveries shit I doubt they'll leave it. Now I've only used 2 other times, but I gotta say so far the deliver all my shit together on Saturday seems fucking worthless. Now I have to call their stupid CS and hope they can switch it to Saturday. According to their help page, if you're not there to accept a package that requires OTP, they'll try again the next day. Not sure what happens after the 2nd try but with my luck, they just refund your money.

Also Googling and reading more about this OTP shit, some people are getting fucked by drivers because the driver knows OTP means it's a more pricy item. And if anything happens, like the driver keeping some of your packages. Amazon's telling people "too fucking bad, your shit was delivered we have proof!"

That does sound annoying. Why have those options if they don't actually work. I get logistics can be tricky especially trying to time arrivals but if they can't find a way to do it then just don't offer that option.

More troubling's the OTP thing, what I read they only do it for more expensive things. Makes sense, but what I ordered was $113, not exactly what I'd consider expensive. And their shipping, at least for my neighbor, "before 10PM" If this is the new thing, I'll have to be at home, or close to home when I have a delivery coming. I know when it gets semi close you get real time updates, but up until the point it could be noon or it could be 8 before you get an update. Gonna make me not shop with Amazon if this is their new way to do shit.

I think it’s fundamental topology problem, particularly when the cables have different thickness and stiffness. I think it would make a noble dissertation for a math PhD.

Seems to happen to me all the time with extension cords. I'll even coil them all neatly like stage mic cable so that it stays all nice. Do multiple and put them together to store them on a hook and minute I go to use it it's all tangled lol. The method used for mic cable is a bit iffy on thick gauge electrical cable though. If I feel lazy I just wrap it around my hand and elbow.

Buying parts to build a new system, had a motherboard picked out, and was going to order it Friday. Had zero clue it was on a Black Friday sale, hell I thought $550 was too damn much. I tweaked my monthly budget so I could swing it. And was all set to order it a few days early.

It's now $800.... The original MB+CPU+Mem I had on my list was $700. I had to perform a damn miracle to get my woman to agree to me buying a $550 one. Zero possibility I can convince her on $799.

What's astonishing is that you would even consider the mobo at $799. What's so special about it?

Well, I'm not even considering it anymore, I was only considering it when it was $550. Which is still pretty insane for a motherboard. But, it sounds almost reasonably priced when compared to $800.

I was just bringing up how if I still wanted it she wouldn't go for $799.

Got new active speakers for my desktop to replace my Edifiers. Like the speakers before the Edifiers, these had a lot of noise in them. The Edifiers somehow did not get that noise. So I realized the noise was coming from the motherboard. I spent time reading and disabling things on the mobo like C1 states and changed various power settings and also disabled a lot of stuff. Nothing worked. Spent a couple hours doing that. So I ordered a $10 ground loop isolator from Amazon delivered overnight and it actually works like a charm. It plugs into the speaker out of my soundcard and then the 1/8th inch to RCA plugs into it.

Wasted two hours of my life.

I was slicing some frozen eye round for jerky. I shut off the deli slicer to clear away the pile of meat and now it won't turn on any more.

I'm jealous you have a deli slicer. I also remember how great it was when Kramer got a deli slicer on Seinfeld.

I'm back in the office two to three days per week now. The morning bastard is back in the office as well. The bastard walks through the office turning on overhead lights in rooms he doesn't even work in without a thought that the people working in those rooms liked the lights set the way they were. Bastard.

My boss does that. Lights the office up like a stadium in rooms nobody's even in. I tell him it must be nice getting free power to use anyway you want.

I have nothing good to say about artificial white light. It's jarring. I don't know who decided it was a good idea to make bright white LEDs and install them everywhere. I hope that person gets trapped in a shadowless white lit hell.

Ahh yes, light nazies. When we bought another company and brought in those employees in our office we had one like that. Acted like he owned the place. He worked the evening shift and would show up at 4, turn off all the lights, and switch the TV to another channel and unmute it, he didn't care if any of us were on the phone. He'd also stink up the whole place making some really nasty smelling meals. Most people were not brave enough to say anything though, guy was a little crazy. He pulled a knife on the boss once, and he also tied his wife up in his basement a decade or so before and was in the news for it. Normally quiet but one of those types of quiet where you feel there is rage fueling inside. I always felt a bit uneasy when I had to work night shift with him lol.

Guy was depressive but took it out on others and didn't help himself, he just let it build up. I always worried I'd one day find him hanging off a cable ladder or something. Either that or he brings a gun and shoots up the place. He was the text book version of the type of person that does that.

Glad we are on hybrid now and work from home half the time. We don't see him anymore.
