What first world problem did you have today?

Ordered a second R9 290X Tri-X to find out my motherboard doesn't have enough space between the PCI-E slots to allow the fans to move on the top card because they sandwich together and the aftermarket cooler is slightly taller than 2 slots. Now I have to buy another motherboard and everyone thinks their Z77 board is made of gold or something... It's almost cheaper for me to upgrade to Z97 cause I have a microcenter around.

Meanwhile, some fu*k-wit know-it-all has left the bathroom exhaust fan on after a shower and walked away. It's been on for 30 minutes AFTER his shower now (on top of the 20 during the shower), will probably stay on for another hour until he notices it -- fu*k-wit always does this. I turned it off earlier, but the tw*t turned it right back on.

Guess the ~50 cfm that goes out doesn't need to be drawn back in at -18 C and reheated with money.

I tried the "click to add event to calendar" feature of gmail where gmail autodetects dates in an email message and offers to add the subject to your google calendar. The date highlighted was March 2, 2015 @8:30am. Google added the event to the calendar as March 6, 2014 through March 9, 2016. How can a program be so damn lame?

individual music lessons. I teach voice at home now since I sold my businesses. By the time someone is an adult they put up so many walls to learning its crazy. Kids if you keep them engaged can learn so fast its crazy.

I proposed starting on a Wednesday and the recruiter asked if I'd rather start the following Monday, but that just seemed greedy.

(not that I'm going on vacation or anything... assuming my current company can't/won't counter my new offer, I'll be moving apartments the day after my last day and will probably spend that week and a change off unpacking, getting familiar with my new commute, and buying new clothes since I'm going from a "wear whatever you want" office to a suit-and-tie company)

there's no way my current company can beat my new offer, though... ~$30k raise, an extra 3 weeks off/year, 9 extra sick days, better insurance at half the cost, and tuition reimbursement at a top-notch college.

Yep. I just put up with it when they slapped on a $4 a month leasing fee. Then about 8 months later they wanted $6 a month for it. Now they've decided they want $8 a month for it. Comcast, who they're merging with also raised their modem lease fee to $10. The piece of junk little made in china box is only WORTH that much in the first place! This is all getting out of hand and is only likely to continue after the two merge into an even larger behemoth.

Ironically enough if you were to buy the actual model they lease off of amazon you wouldn't be able to activate it. The cheapest model they let you buy and activate on their list is the $69 model I bought. So they're willing to lease out second rate hardware, but not let you bring your own. Figures. It goes without saying that if the majority of Americans had an alternative for internet that they would be unable to get away with these business practices.

yeah, the commute is going to suck... best case scenario, 1 hour driving each way (or 1:30 via mass transit + walking).

my likely commute is going to be:

-drive to train station (10-15 minutes, plus maybe 5-10 to park and walk from my car to the train station)
-train into NYC (1 hour)
-walk 1 mile from NY Penn Station to my office (nice day) or take the subway (bad weather), 15-20 minutes either way

the company has a second office in Jersey, but driving there would be an hour+ drive through rush hour traffic.

but the money is worth it, and worst case scenario, we just move again when the new lease is up next year... otoh, given the longer commute and bigger salary, first thing I'm doing is hiring a cleaning lady so I can spend my weekends relaxing instead of doing chores.

Didn't even hear about that merge, but good god. You have my sympathy. You aren't even mentioning the terrible customer service and terrible service itself. I don't know how many times I ran a speed test and wasn't getting the speeds I was paying for - which is another story in itself. It seemed like my bill grew larger and larger every single month. Such a fucking joke. I moved into a new apartment where fios was available. I'm never looking back. :thumbsup:
