What first world problem did you have today?

I had a throat tumor removed earlier this year and now have horrible nerve pain. My neurologist is playing "try the medication" game with me and insists on me trying a whole slew of stuff that doesn't appear to be working. My latest, amitriptyline, is at 50 mg and I take it every night. It makes me sleepy as hell all day long and driving is downright dangerous. To top it off, I still have severe pain and am taking twice the recommended amount of ibuprofen every 3-4 hours just to function.

Carbamazepine was a joke. Made my headaches worse. I just want the pain to stop.

just tell him to stop playing games and give you a 'scrip for dilaudid already.

He won't do that.. he won't prescribe lortab or anything like it because it doesn't combat the root of the pain. My response was that if it removes the pain, it does the job. He's dead set on using nerve pain drugs but they don't seem to work and he wants to try the entire slew of them. so frustrating. I first started having this pain around Halloween last year and it has gotten worse, especially after they removed the benign tumor. The ENT keeps saying the pain will go away as the nerves heal, but every day is an ordeal to just function. Sorry, probably the wrong thread for all of this. AT least I'm not having to worry about where I'll sleep next or where my next meal will come from.

oh he's one of THOSE docs. yeah at that point I go on my doctor search tool and find a new one.

this is actually a true first world problem because if it was a 3rd world country and you had some money, you could probably go down to the local pharmacy and get some good shit for $5.

post-surgery incision is healing up very nicely but the scar tissue underneath (wrist) is a PITA. Hurts with moderate pressure applied directly on it. Doctors orders is to "rub it out" whenever I can.........

Since it's a firm holiday, there is only one person working security at the revolving doors and only at the northern entrance. I had to walk around from the southern entrance, around the building and enter from the northern entrance. Then they had the velvet ropes directing us toward the main desk so I couldn't walk directly to the elevator banks. The cafeteria is closed today so to get breakfast I had to make this trek two additional times.

this happened to me about two weeks ago. i've come to like it - no more digging your fingernail under the damn cover to charge your phone. Definitely a shit design.
