I placed a $75 amazon order yesterday that should have been delivered same day...I got the notification that it was delivered even though it never arrived.

I did the auto chat this morning with them..

The status on my order was actually updated to "Handed directly to resident"...LOL

Likely just your everyday "wrong address." The only time I ever got one of those Amazon app notices where the delivery person takes a pic of the place they left your package it was left on a neighbor's porch.

Yeah it's bad, everything is just so expensive and just keeps going up. I was actually doing better 10 years ago even though I made like 70k since everything was cheaper.

Mortgage $1300, Hydro $140, city taxes $360ish, water $100, gas, $120, insurance $170, cell phone $60, internet around $60 etc... just to name a few of the bills. 80k is also gross, so by the time I see the money it's around 60k or so after all the deductions.

I wish for individual it worked like a company, we should only get taxed on profit. Ex: our after living expense income. So whatever is left over after you pay all your bills, that's what we should get taxed on. It's how it works for companies.

Toying with starting a corporation so I can put a lot of stuff under it. Like maybe I can put the house under the corporation and then rent to myself. I'd have to sit down with a tax accountant to figure out the best approach while also staying legal.
You mean have to pay $360ish in city taxes every month? Hory shet

Yeah it's insane, and it goes up every year. Same with water. Water is $100/mo. it's a flat rate based on the number of rooms in the house, and what is considered a room is arbitrary. I think the living room and kitchen is 2 rooms, but if your house is open concept it's 1 room, then bed rooms are individual rooms. My house is considered having 5 rooms when there's only 3 bed rooms.

I could start knocking down walls but they're load bearing so it gets more complicated.

Dayum. My city and county were $630 for the year. We do pay on vehicles but that only $235 more.

Wow that's super cheap. I'm looking into buying land in an unorganized township and building from scratch so I can set it up off grid which would eliminate most bills. The taxes in those areas are usually around $100-$200/year and you don't need permits to build stuff. Such land is at least an hour away from here though so I would need to quit my job and find another source of income but I can at least build it as a camp over the years and still go on my time off. Something I'm looking into for the future. I can't keep living here, I'm just going to have less and less money until I'm forced to move. To live off grid I would go from like $3000+/mo in living expenses to well under $1,000 (I would probably still want insurance, internet etc), so I would not need that much income.

I am in podunk S.C., city population of 40K. Our education scores and obesity scores are in inverse competition with each other.

We pay about $2400/yr in county property taxes here...and a 9% sales tax on non-food purchases.

Our electricity has been blinking on/off...just enough to make my cable modem reset...plus the internet has been...wonky at best for the past couple of days.

Add to that the "explosions" that have been happening since WWII ammunition (20mm AA rounds mostly) has been washing up on a couple of local beaches after the last big storm...

Not by default in my city, at least not for residential. You can ask to get one installed and I looked into it, debating on going with one as I would save a bit of money. You still have to pay for a set amount of water though, and only get charged if you go over. So I would pay around 60/mo and only pay more if I use more which I never would unless I start watering my lawn in summer which I RARELY do.

It's odd I don't get that bell on desktop, but I tried on Mobile and holy crap this forum is brutal on mobile. You get that bell, but also get these random videos that play and cover half the page.

My ONT is beeping every 15 minutes because it detected that the lead acid battery in it is dead even though I replaced it a couple years back. I actually kept the old one because it was still good, but not good enough for the ONT apparently. The person I used to talk to no longer works there and I have no idea how to reach the normal help desk because of the company restructuring if you call the official number you just get bounced around. There is literally no tech support for our region for this service. I don't really want to pay for a battery myself especially if it's only going to get marked as dead again in a few years.

Think I'll just open it up and disable the beeper.
