Learn to hunt and plant a garden and can/freeze stuff if you're worried; being self-sufficient would be more important in the long run if there were a food crisis. There's enough food on the shelves of all the local supermarkets to last weeks.

dude, do you have any clue how much our national debt is??? how can we be even close to being rich with like 75 billion in national debt. that shits fucked up mang

Like I said in a thread over in P&N....I'll start worrying about a food shortage crisis when I walk into a buffet and the only choices available are warm tap water a Tic Tac's.

Hush up you, I'm trying to figure out how to make money out of the lunacy...:brokenheart:

The price of staple foods (by staple foods, I mean Totinos pizza) hasn't increased much in the last 10 years...it had to go up some time

we're pretty lucky here. . . .some countries have had riots due to rising/astronomical food prices. . . .figured it would affect us in some shape or form sooner or later. the rice rationing @ sam's is only the beginning.

Buy some pre-65 silver coins (quarters, dimes, etc). When the fit hits the shan, you can trade a silver quarter for a full course meal.

But yeah I think if you're worried about a food crisis or something, learn how to grow and catch your own stuff, and store it.

Wrong. You should see how fast food flies off the shelves. It doesn't look like much because it gets restocked so fast. With no restock it would be gone within a couple of days.

So let's panic, right? That's a really intelligent thing to do.

Twinkies! Personally, I'm going to the twinkie factory in Natick (which, contrary to Family Guy, hasn't existed for awhile now).

I don't know man... I might start getting edgy before that. If Tic Tac's are all that's left, things can't be good.

Beans and rice. Probably the cheapest, the most non-perishable, and nutritionally it would be more well-rounded than just rice (protein and carbs).

Pretty much the only foods that can be stored for a long time with little precaution are canned..

You can store rice, flour, other cereal grains, etc... but it takes preparation. It will go bad if stored under improper conditions.
