I've always used a MS Sidewinder gamepad, but some of the Logitech gamepads are good as well.

If you've got a PS/PS2 controller, I think they make USB adapters that will let you use it as a PC gamepad (possibly Xbox adapters as well). When it comes to gamepads, it's hard to beat the console pads.

I'll toss in a rec for the Saitek P2500 Rumble Pad, I got one for playing LOTR RotK and it works very well. also fairly cheap around $25 on sale from best buy when I purchased it.

Another recommendation for Saitek. I'm using a Saitek 880 ($19.99) because the Fry's here didn't carry the Saitek 3000($39.99) and I needed a controller ASAP to replace an ailing Logitech Dual Action. If they would've carried the 3000 I would've bought it without hestitation. Cordless, 2 rechargable battery packs, and a recharging stand... very nice.

As much as I love Logitech mice, I've had nothing but bad experiences with their controllers for both the PC and PS2. All of which had problems within a fairly short period of time.

Logitech Cordless Rumblepad - its always worked for me and it has lots of buttons, especially four trigger buttons, which I love in Madden 2004 for stiff arms/jukes. The cordless is great too. The only thing I don't like is the d-pad, which is not really that good. But all the other features make up for that, easily.

The Gravis Gamepad Pro USB. It feels just like a playstation controller, making it easier to use with most games. You can program the buttons to be similar.
