What glass cleaner do you use?

Well, I spent about 4 hours cleaning and detailing both my cars. My wife's 06 Honda Civic had a horrible film on the front and back windows. I "thought" I was able to clean it off...I say thought because it looked good during the day....then the night hits and other cars headlights really show the streaks and film.

What products do you use to keep your windows spotless? What do you apply? What window cleaning tool do you use?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Newspaper and vinegar or Stoner's Invisible Glass. Last thing I do after a wash and detail is pull it out into the street in direct sunlight and use vertical wipes on one side and horizontal on the other.

any glass cleaner should work well if you do it right. i like paper towels, but newspaper works good, too.

just be careful of stuff with ammonia, afaik it can mess up tint.

Stoners Invisible Glass

Does ok on the outside. but has problems with the filmy residue on the interior windshield. In that case I dampen a paper towel with water and swab the swirls left behind by Stoners. Seems to help clear it up.

Wow, stoners seems to be well liked...I've never tried it but haven't ever had much luck getting the inside of the windshield clean. I might have to give it a shot.

Is there something special about newspaper? Or is there some other reason people prefer to use it?

I bought five bottles of Stoner's when it was on sale at a Wal-Mart last year, FTW! Love the stuff, doesn't streak at all.

I usually hit the windows with a (LIGHT) degreaser before the Stoner's, though. It seems to get them cleaner. Always follow up with Rain-x as well, not only does it shine them further, but the rain-x protectant works pretty well.

Last time I cleaned I used glasses cleaner with a fuzzy microfiber cloth. Seems to work pretty good. Leaves no streaks once it dries, and I think the isopropyl in it is less toxic than Windex. It also has propylene glycol which helps prevent fogging.

Another vote for Stoner's. Although I would say not to bother with their pre-moistened wipes - they streak way more than the regular spray on stuff.

maybe that's what i need. invisible glass just seems to smear the crap on my windows around. even vinegar and newspaper didn't help very much.

of course i've also got water spots etched (or something) into the glass. i'll probably need to use steel wool to get those out.

newspapers help degrease. it's the same reason the camera guys have these lens pens with a carbon cleaner that they just seem like they're drawing on their lenses. works like a charm.

A clay bar works well on glass as well, from what I've told. People say to take a dirty/worn out clay bar to the windows. Can't say I've done it yet, YMMV.
