What grade were you when when you started learning algebra?

I grew up in rural Oklahoma, where the emphasis in our high school was on Vocational Agriculture and Vo-Tech schools. They basically expected everyone to be a farmer or mechanic.

9th Grade = algebra 1
10th Grade = Geometry, these two were all that was required to graduate.
10th Grade = Algebra 2
11th Grade = Trigonometry/Advanced math class (this is what they called it, basically precalc)
12th Grade = AP Calculus, taken via satellite from the OSU campus.

i was in very advanced math for my time and started doing learning algebra in summer between 5th and 6th grade. i did Calculus BC (guess that would be Calc2) in 11th grade. it was part of a special math curriculum originally called MEGISS but later changed to GEM at the Nova school system in Broward County, Florida

6th: Pre Algebra
7th: Geometry
8th: Algebra I

9th: Algebra II Honors
10th: Pre Calc Honors
11th: AP Calc BC
12th: AP Statistics since I was out of stuff to take

7th and i was in an advanced class too

yep. learned algebra in 7th grade. taught myself algebra2 in 8th grade.

Did you only do 140 during your senior year, or 141 as well? Just curious. I recall some of my friends complaining about one of the two (although I think they took the E versions as they were engineering majors) while I whimsically took COMPSC 101 to fulfill my only remaining math credit requirement.

I took Math 140 in the fall of my Senior year, I slacked off that Spring and did not take anything.

5th. My aunt was a math major, had a lot of books, We were living in her basement, I figured a lot of it out on my own, the rest came during a majorly difficult transition time in 7th grade when I had to learn how to do math the "official" way, showing work and all.
