with tons of programmability and faster ram tech, this fall looks like it will see more competitive parts than ever in the history of gaming 3D. what are you looking forward to?

I could care less who makes it... but I'm most looking forward to a card that'll let me game at 1600X1200 with 4xAA enabled and give me AVERAGE framerates of 80.

Not sure how long it'll take for that to happen.... oh yeah, and make the price no more than $300.

From the persepctive of a potential Consumer: Probably Parhelia.
From the architectural perspective: Most likely the P10.

R300 all the way.

ATI is the only manufacturer that has made a TV out that I find acceptable. (I've only had ATI, Nvidia, and S3 so I can't say anything about Matrox.)

For me personally, Parhelia. Don't game much, but need something better than a G400. Architechureally, well the ArtX and 3dfx tech thats supposed to be in NV30/R300 should be great, but then there's P10, to be honest I can't make up my mind!!!!

Nvidia always delivers a solid product and the NV30 being a DX9 part will definately have some awesome features that ACTUALLY GET USED IN GAMES!

I can't stress this enough...ATi has some cool ideas but how many games use trueform? that's right...Half-Life, Serious Sam, and RTCW and in RTCW you don't even see it, and Half-Life gets baloon effects alot of the times. So I'm counting on nvidia to pave the way with something new.

So far there hasn't been much info on anything but the Parhelia, so I must reserve my comment. Without any information whatsoever other than a codename, its hard to vote for any of them, and any vote would either be brand loyalty or because its a cool codename...

Anyone has any info on the rest of the graphics chips? I've seen some impressive info on the Parhelia, some vague info on the P10, but nothing on the NV30 and R300 parts...

ATi is being very quiet about R300, compared to the leaks we've seen from Matrox and nVidia. Either that means their next-gen part has no where near the specs of G1000 or NV30 or else they got a few tricks up their sleeve. I certainly hope for the latter. I've been a very happy customers of ATi products for over a year now, owning both a Radeon 32DDR and a Radeon 7500. I have no reason not to stick with ATi.

Again, here's my prediction:

G1000 will be the most feature-rich card, but it will be the most expensive of the three.

NV30 will take the performance crown.

R300 will be no slouch, but will be about 5% slower than NV30, but will come with such new features as hardware MPEG decoding. It will be priced lower than G1000 and the high-end NV30 part, but higher than the low-end NV30 part. Simply put, it will offer the most bang for the buck and will probably be my next card.

GTaudiophile, where are you getting your info on the NV30? I've seen some info on the ATI but none on the NV30. Basically the ATI R300 should also have a 256bit memory bus like the Parhelia...

i bet they all have 256 bit memory buses. research is done by academics and then every company in the applicable industry seems to release parts using that research in the same market time frame, a few years after the research is done by the academics.

I'm looking forward to the NV30 the most but in reality all cards interest me.

I would like a card that has zero issues and drivers that are perfect - guess this is too much to ask i guess
If the matrox card turns out to be an unrushed solid product it may well go on my shopping list after everyone's tested it out for me
Im wary of the other manufacturers rushing to market and cutting corners if Matrox get it right with performance and release to market time frame.
