What happened to all the V5 5500s that were pulled off the shelves?

Local Best Buy put 3dfx cards back on the shelves
after 2 weeks absence. Priced lower and 5500 is gone already.

Local CompUSA never pulled them, but they didnt drop the price.
So its still there.

All the Best Buys here pulled them and kept them for a while, saying they would eventually put them back out. I checked weekly on the status and last week they all claimed to have sent them back to the manufacturer rather than put them out for sale. Interesting, as they will be getting ZERO from the manufacturer.

I have to give credit to local CompUSA salespeople.
When customer gets interested in 3dfx board they openly warn
about 3dfx bankrupcy implications. I doubt they sell many.
Same CompUSA still has Aureal SQ2500 sitting on the shelf.

I saw oem 5500`s at my local comp show last Sunday, for $150.00- wish I had an extra $150.00.

I picked one up a few weeks ago at a computer show... I paid $175.... A bit pricy, but I pretty much play UT exclusively... So I wanted to grab it before they disappear.. Which it now appears that they have..
