There would also be angels singing.

I think it's a reasonably logical to expect EP3 to ship with Portal 2 in some kind of color-coded "box." Maybe with Team Fortress 3 in the box too (or some kind of conceptual valve game involving time warping).

I'm more excited about Portal 2 and Ep 3 @ this point. Frankly, I'm annoyed it's taken so long. The whole "episode" bullshit was to rollout out an entire "game" in short intervals.

Whatever box they release I'll certainly get. Kind of sucks though because I don't want any Term Fortress BS. I always enjoyed HL MP or CS MP.....

eh - anyone who tries to develop a roll out plan knows that things change. However, the silence from Valve is a bit unsettling - why not official say they put EP3 on the back burner to concentrate on other projects.

I remember [or maybe I was just dreaming] how unreal engine and quake engines were suppose to shorten game development times since you didn't have to create a game engine from scratch - but that never happened. It still takes a long time to develop and release a game for most companies.

Hell - if Duke Nukem Forever is going to finally be released - it only makes sense that EP3 will eventually be released too...

Actually it did happen. Look at all the games today that use the Unreal engine.

The "delay" has nothing to do with engine or resources. It has to do with Valve sitting fat and happy on their other franchises. If gamers seriously wanted EP3 or HL3 they'd just mass boycott T42 and L4D series so Valve could stop printing money long enough to want to produce a -A- SP experience again.

Yeah, didn't think so.

Speculation is worthless, does this fit with Valve's track record?

So what would be your excuse for all the games that took forever BEFORE they had TF2 and L4D? It might be hard to think back, but Valve has always taken forever to release games. L4D2 was by far the quickest sequel they've ever put out, but that is very much the EXCEPTION for Valve... not the norm.

For one thing, those were full games - not mere episodes. At this point I doubt that we will even see an EP3 (too few will have played or remember EP2); I suspect we'll just see a HL3 at some point.

Those were not full games. A couple hours for each one is not a full game.
