My UIN is 36256135. I used back in the day as the only IM client, 98a was an awesome client, but it got bloated. I still use it on Trillian, but I only know one person who still has it.

I think it's three years old
It was very popular in Europe for the longest while, I don't like it now though that it's all bloated and crap. I'm still logged in sometimes on trillian though.

ICQ itself pretty much started diving after ICQ98a. Then Mirabilis got bought and it all went to hell in terms of bloat.

That said, I still use Trillian and my original UIN from shortly after ICQ was made publicly available: 118998.

It is very, very rare that I find anyone with a number lower these days.

I still have mine. 352xxx. 6 digits baby!

I liked it because you could leave messages for people even when they were not online.

I still remember mine, 84435038. I had a 6 digit number, but I stopped using it and couldn't remember it. I had to create a new one. What kind of messenger uses numbers instead of names anyway? I still remember the "uh-oh" sound it made when you recieved a message.

My first number was 1308410.

Stopped using it after AOL bought it out and made it horrible, though.

I used to use ICQ back in the day but I don't use it at all anymore. I have trillian and use AIM, MSN, and Yahoo but I don't even bother having it log into my ICQ account. I don't know anyone who even uses it.

I used ICQ 98a for as long as possible, then switched to Miranda. Anything after ICQ99 was just plain retarded, as it pretty much all of the other bloated and huge IM programs.

Below 3 million? That's it? My ICQ# is 6 digits.....

edit: 323963

Is there still a client available? Don't recommend trillain, I hate trillian.

6 digits is damn impressive.

Mine's 164xxxx. I think I got it when I was 17. I used to have an earlier number, maybe 13xxxx, but lost it early because I couldn't remember my login.

I use Trillian to keep ICQ alive.

it's still very popular in israel although i don't use it.

a) i hate chat programs like that that fill your computer up with spyware/adware

b) why do i need to remember a 10 digit number instead of a name?

It was by far the best client out there, then AOL took it over and ruined it like they do everything they touch. It still exists, and is extremely widely used, but not the uber-app it once was. It's still the primary communication tool (at least within the Trillian framework) of almost everyone I know.

I set up ICQ a few months ago and was surprised I still remembered my account # and that it actually still worked...I haven't used this since like 98 or 99...

This thread has upset me. My number was 842xxx but I don't remember now. Would have been funny to login to it after about 8 years of inactivity.

What I like about ICQ is that no matter how long your UIN was inactive, it didn't get recycled.

I remember, when it used to be a rage, me and my mate would try to find people on the random chat feature (forget what it's called now) and get them to chat, instead of sending messages. That used to be an accomplishment. Then I remember one time, this person we were messaging was a transvestite, and we didn't know what the word meant, so we looked it up and we were like...eeew. And that was the last time we used the random chat.

the interesting thing is in gaim, ICQ connects into login.oscar.aol.com, which allows you to communicate to people on ICQ with AIM.
