Was wondering if someone could help...
I was running a GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 motherboard with a geforce 7800GT. My power supply was an enermax 420W. I upgraded to the GeForce 9600GSO and I plugged it in. It wasnt really running that good so I decided I should upgrade my power supply because I think my system was a little underpowered in the beginning (3 120mm fans, 2 SATA hard drives, CD, 2 GB RAM, E6550, etc.)
So I bought a corsair 750tx and plugged in it to my system and NOTHING. However, initially I forgot to plug in the 12V 4-pin connector. After realizing that, I plugged that in and I thought it would be a done deal but NOTHING AGAIN. No display. I had to find a speaker to plug in the motherboard to see what was going on and I got a series of short beeps. After looking at the manual, the beeps relate to a "power error". not really sure what the means, but it doesn't seem good.
So I said screw it, and put my old power supply in. Same thing, no display and same beeps! I couldn't believe it. What the hell happened? No matter what I do, I can't get it to even get anything on the screen. I tried a complete barebones, brought the MB out of the case, etc. Tried different RAM, resat the CPU, etc.
So what happened? Could NOT plugging in the 4pin 12V plug have damaged my motherboard?
Thanks for any help... but I can't get it to work, but I am just wondering if anyone may have a guess as to what happened? Looks like an RMA in my future.
