What happened to Newzbin?

What's the big fascination with newzbin? Do they offer something more than your typical usenet search? (I use UNS, never had an issue with their search...also use Newsleecher with its SuperSearch)

Wow the mass of people on a public site, where Im sure the fbi checks now and then, just pretty much coming out and saying "Hey Im a Pirate, I just gave you probable cause to search my home, thanks to the patriot act, cuse I said I steal" astounds the hell out of me.

Why on gods earth would you do something you know is wrong, and the feds are all over it thanks to movie and game makers, come out on a public forum and ask for invites, and tell all, hell look at me I do this. it be like killing someone and going in a forum and telling everyone you killed so and so. You know the feds just need one hint of bad stuff to go search your home, they dont need any hard evidence you do it, all they need is you on a public forum saying you do it. I think I hear a knock on your doors. This day and age id be one scared mofo to do this kind of crap anyway, they dont need anything to come search your house, just show up one day and say "hello, here is our warrant to look in your home, have a nice day as we tear your home up."

Easynews global search pwns both of them.

Of course, you have to use Easynews as your usenet provider, but it's well worth it just for the global search IMO.

If you have friends you'd like to introduce, then what better way to send them an invitation via email?

We can automate this process for you - enter the email address you would like to send an invitation to, and they will receive an email with further instructions.

Some members on newzbin said it best and I fully agree:

I think a bit of investigation is needed into the invites, especially people who have sent out multiple invites. If you do a google on "newzbin invites" then there are many, many results with people offering any tom, dick and harry an invite. It makes a mockery of the "dont invite people you don't know" rule.

I agree. I would be happy if Newzbin stopped any new applicants and I would pay double the usual subscription if they did this.

Agreed. Do a sting operation. Reply to the person posting invites and when you get the invitation e-mail, you'll know who it is and you can ban them from the site.

Newzbin should be doing it soon.
