I'm not so sure. The NYAG has a serious axe to grind and it doesn't seem to be getting any less intent on grinding it. Trump and his cohorts are in for a pretty solid slap of reality once he's not protected by Barr et al. Now I don't think he's going to be lead out of the WH in cuffs, but he's going to be facing a huge legal battle

Sounds good to me. I hope they do it. It will provide cover for the Biden administration to have nothing to do with it. If the right wants to whine that the NYAG's prosecution of Trump is politically motivated, fine, but it won't have anything to do with Biden and will achieve the same desired result of putting that asshole exactly where he belongs: behind bars.

I am sure Trump will pardon his organized crime family on the way out.

Or not. He may well blame them for defeat & drag them all down with him. Alternatively, he could resign & President for a day, Mike Pence, could pardon him after being pardoned by Trump. The lame duck period after the election may yield all sorts of weirdness unimaginable pre-Trump.

That's ridiculous victim blaming. Efforts to obtain documents from Trump & the admin proceed at the speed of the judiciary. Several matters await judgement by the SCOTUS.
But the impeachment is over. Nobody testified. Dumpy was "completely vindicated!", according to himself and everyone who worships him. Whatever happens now or in the future, is completely irrelevant, how would any court rulings affect anything now?

The opportunity to affect change, to make a difference, flew the coop months ago. The Dems were too slow, too late and too ineffective, as we knew they would be. Because they don't have any balls. They want to play nice, and follow the rules, but the Repuggers don't give a shit about playing nice. They don't care about rules. All they care about is getting their way, only their way, and if they can't get that it's obstruct, obstruct, obstruct, lie, deceive, blame and misdirect. Nothing else.

What really concerns me is the period where they'll be nearly out of office. That is, should Trump lose, the stretch of time between 11/4 and 1/20 is going to be ugly.

While I agree the Democrats moved too slowly I would also remember that the information that came out about Hillary’s Emails wasn’t a crime, she was never convicted or impeached, etc. yet they still did huge damage to her.

It'd be ugly and glorious. Trump would no doubt try to challenge the results no matter how soundly he's beaten, and he may take a poison pill by trying to wreck as many institutions as he can on the way out. But at the same time, seeing him whine 24/7 would be comedy... especially knowing that criminal charges may be waiting for him on the other side.

While the reality will likely be boring, I still imagine Trump pretending to walk toward Marine One as his replacement is inaugurated in January, only to bolt to a hidden getaway car that gets him to a private jet and a chance to flee the country. Anything to preserve the trappings of wealth, even if it means he can never return to the US.

Excuse me, but you blamed Congressional Dems for not obtaining materials being withheld by the co-equal Executive Branch. They have no way to obtain that material other than through the SCOTUS. It's all just the usual back biting & 20/20 hindsight. House Dems had no choice but to impeach Trump. It was their constitutional duty regardless of the outcome of the trial.

He can pardon them for federal crimes they may or may not have committed...but the states will be free to have at them for any state crimes...
