I have the end cap of my aluminum frame pump handle missing. If some motorist hits me, then goes all road rage on me, he's getting core sampled.

Ok, I read the supposed back story in the OP and I don't for a minute believe that's the true story. After watching the video, I think the bike guy crashed into the asian guy's car and tried to get away, so the asian guy chases after him. But then nobody really knows the true story because the guy who took the video only showed the 2nd half of the incident and left out the cause.

I like to ask the people who are defending the biker, if some guy crashes into your car and tries to run away, would you chase after him like the asian guy? Are you ok with getting beat over the head multiple times by a U Lock?

Seems to be like another case of bicyclists thinking traffic laws for vehicles don't apply to them and it's perfectly ok to do a hit and run w/o any consequence 'cause there's no license plate to trace them. Awesome!

ASSumptions are fun!

Why would you assume that when...

1. There is no evidence for it whatsoever?

2. An eyewitness described the exact opposite?

Indeed, hating on the cyclists because he holds a grudge of some sort.

I'd have to run over the douchbag biker if he thought he was going to core sample me. That video fucking pisses me off to no end.

You don't run away from the scene of an accident, then use a chain to hit someone after they confront you. The biker should be fucking run over. Period.

Being an avid biker myself I used to feel pretty sympathetic to fellow riders. That is because I never actually drove my car around downtown much. Lately, they cause more annoyance/danger than anyone else in the downtown core. The asian guys behaviour can be explained by two theories:

1. He comes from an asian country where cyclists are treated like dog shit, eg, you smash them and back up to make sure they are down.

2. He had good reason to pursue the cyclist because the guy did something really dumb.

That feeling of being more powerful and important than a biker only works inside the car. Once you get out of your car, you are probably confronting a more physically fit individual with some accessories handy that can put you in a world of pain.
I bet getting b!tch slapped with a U-lock taught him that lesson.

If you don't plan to shoot, you should not be un-holstering the firearm. Period.

I know that if the person stops as soon as you draw you don't shoot, but you should never draw without the intent to shoot.

ZV

wrong. You should never draw without being WILLING to shoot.

If you can de-escalate a situation by drawing without shooting please by all means do it.

The old guy wouldn't stop being a wise and beautiful woman, I would've done the same thing to him.

Umm, the OP clearly states:
"The older Asian guy hit the bike messenger on the street. Not sure of the circumstances, whose fault, etc"

IOW, we only have a confirmed collision without an assignment of blame and *you* are making assumptions just because the OP said worded it as "X hits X."

Yes, he should word it differently, but "hit" can be be used as "collided." Of course, that's not how we usually interpret it: I got T-boned at an intersection and when the other driver told the cop "that's when he hit me" the cop started laughing and said "Let me tell you something: YOU hit HIM."

Indeed, that is a big change. But fear not my big guns. They don't shoot through the intertubes.
