What Hard drive should I get, my 75gxp died.....

I feel unsafe with IBM, but the 40 gig 60gxp looks good. I was also looking at the 40 gig maxtor drive, the 60 series I beleive. Would I see any performance difference on the drives with a 1.2 ghz athlon, and geforce 2 ultra, and 256 megs of pc133 ram?

I am going to see if IBM or where I bought my HD maybe wont RMA me, its under warranty, but I dont mind paying for what I need since I need my computer for school work, and cant really afford to wait 2-3 weeks to get a new one. Thanks for your input!!!!

Yeah, the Maxtor drive sounds pretty good. Its only .4ms slower, but I think I would be getting more reliability from Maxtor. And then too I can always keep my IBM and try to make it work. I was thinking of using a static bag and opening it up and working on it.........haha, or not, but still. Well, thanks for the input and keep it coming, I am off to class but will be checking in as my classes are computer classes, which is why I need the HD so quick, cause I have homework and my old computer (this one) really just doesnt fit the bill, sure it runs Visual Basic and Logic, but not like mine does! LOL

which hard drive runs quieter? ibm 60gxp or maxtor dm+ 60?

For performance get a Maxtor/Quantum. Check the model numbers to make sure which drive you are getting.

For acoustics, get a Seagate Barracuda IV.

What's with this drives, I was just reading an article on slashdot about people having these problems and etc. And then BOOM, one of my Raid strips went out(RAID 0) thankfully this was my backup system, so nothing was lost.

I don't feel comfortable with this IBM's either, anybody know if the replacements they are sending it out, are newer version with the fix?
