What HARDWARE is needed to Make Digital Copies of SUPER 8 Home Movies

OT was clueless and I figured it really belonged here since it is a hardware related question . . .

Anyway, I know how to do the analog to DV . . . I have a DVC . . .
How do I transfer as cheaply and as cleanly as possible from Super8 film to DV?
PLEASE don't say take it to a pro . . . I have HOURS of film and a limited budget.

I know the cheapest way is also the "uglyist" - filming the projected image on a screen . . .

Anyone have EXPERIENCE with this (or just "know)?

Well, you've answered your own question. I have experience with both methods. If it's worth transferring, you should have a professional telecine done:

I have seen little do-it-yourself transfer boxes, but the quality on those is comparable or worse to shooting off a screen (when done properly).

The canopus ADVC-100 is one of the better copiers out there. They speacialize in this field.

Dazzle also makes low cost converters but the reviews I read are they are poorly made and don't
work to well.
I would highly recomend the Canopus

I still have 2 Canopus Voodoo cards running today, they were the best made.

I have an ACVC-100 and it is a great piece of hardware. I have used a PCI capture card and was not impressed with the results. Check out the capture card listings here and decide for yourself. I mainly use mine to convert my old Flyfishing VHS videos to DVD, but it would be perfect for your needs.
