pre 2k, a 15-17in CRT and whatever was built into the powerPC we had
2000 - 17 in CRT - some crappy rez
2002 - KDS - 19 in Flat CRT - 1600x1200
2003 - KDS/something - 2x 19in Flat CRT - dual 1600*1200
2004 - 24in Sony GFW 900 - 1920x1200 - i never should have gotten rid of this
2005 - Hitachi 17in CRT - 1600x1200 @ 85Hz - was on a 2nd system
2006 - 2x LG 22in LCD - dual 1680*1050
2008 - 2x - Asus VK266H 25.5in LCDs - dual 1920*1200
2012 - 2x - Shimian QH270 27in LCDs - dual 2560*1440

i doubt ill upgrade again, the cost of 30in monitors is kinda insane and not worth it for 2560*1600

I have always been a monitor junkie, usually stayed and inch or two above the norms of the times. Strarted with 15" CRT in 1991 and topped out the CRT world with a 22" Mitsubishi Diamondtron in 2000, Then went LCD and have been through many sizes and now am runnung a DEll U3011, a Soyo 24" and a Samsung 26" and use a LG 32" 1080P in spare bedroom.

15" CRT (1152x864)
19" CRT (1400x1050)
21" CRT (Dell P1110) (1600x1200)
2 x 21" CRT (Dell P1110) (3200x1200)
2 x 24" CRT (Sony FW900) (3840x1200)
3 x 21" CRT (Dell P1110) (4800x1200) (ditched the FW900's when I moved cross-country)
24" LCD (Soyo Topaz) (1920x1200)
30" LCD (Dell 3007WFP-HC) (2560x1600)
PLP setup with 2 x 20" LCD (Dell 2007FP) and 30" (Dell 3007WFP-HC) (4960x1600)
3 x 27" LCD (Potalion) (4320x2560)

Up to just over 11 MP now. The upgrade to 30" at this point isn't worth the cost delta to me, I probably won't upgrade again until 4K displays achieve market penetration. I would love a triple ~35" 4K setup.

My favorite of all of these was the 20/30/20 setup. I kind of regret doing the 'upgrade' to what I have now but I finally accepted that it was never going to be properly supported by nvidia/amd. Stupid all the same resolution/orientation rules.

Had a mixed bag of monitors with my current being a 17'' 1280x1024 lcd gateway that came with a budget used pc.

Kinda having a hard time wanting to get even a budget 1600x900 20'' as this monitor is giving off some nice colors for a 2005 model, and the fact i don't need a monstor card to max out this resolution could have me using this thing till it dies.

Same here, only problem is the disadvantage of gaming at 1280 x 1024

You see less of the game area than people on 16x9 aspect ratio

Apparently I like to buy screens in pairs (one craptastic the other a decent one). On another note, looking for reviews on the 193p is the reason I found AT in the first place.

I'm getting nostalgic for my 193p!

I bought one after reading the Anandtech review of it as well. It replaced a 19" Viewsonic Flat trinitron CRT. After seeing how horrible the ghosting was in games, I bought a 19" Hyundai TN panel to go with it to handle the gaming.

That 193p is still going strong... my ex-girlfriend currently using it as her monitor 8 years after I bought it. She loves the image quality for viewing and editing images, and the horrific ghosting somehow doesn't bother her for gaming.

15" CRT 1024x768 @ 60Hz
17" CRT 1600x1200 @ 75Hz
19" CRT 2048x1536 @ 75Hz (Iiyama Vision Master Pro 454)
22" LCD 1680x1050 @ 60Hz (Samsung TN panel)
30" LCD 2560x1600 @ 60Hz (Dell 3007 WFP-HC)
122" Projector 1920x1080 @ 60Hz (Epson TW3200)
24" LCD 1920x1080 @ 120Hz (BenQ XL2420T)

I basically started out around 13 years old with a crappy PC, my first decent 1600x1200 CRT was at Uni and wasn't too bad for the time, my first really decent monitor was the Iiyama, that was really epic and allowed for a massive screen resolution, I kept that for many years until the brightness started to fall off.

Eventually I switched to an LCD, it was my first widescreen which was nice, a 22" Samsung TN panel, one of the better TNs but ultimately not great. A large bonus at work netted me enough cash to drop on a proper monitor, my 30" 2560x1600 panel, that is one of the most serious pieces of hardware I've ever bought, it's an absolutely fantastic monitor.

More recently I added a projector to my list of displays, gamers owe it to themselves to hook up a projector to their PC and play some games on a massive screen.

Newest piece of kit is my BenQ 24" 120hz panel, in many ways a step down from the 30", but brings 120Hz gaming which is really nice, and allows me to do 3D.

I'm now 29 and come a long way since that first crappy CRT, I currently have the 24" 120Hz as my main monitor, the 30" 2560x1600 IPS to do work on and 122" projector all connected to my PC to get the best of all words (size, speed, quality). The old Iiyama is stashed away somewhere the rest were sold to facilitate upgrades.

First was a 13" or 15" CRT.
Switched between 640x480, 800x600, and 1024x768. 1024x768 required me to reduce color depth.

A 19" or 20" aperture grill CRT that was HUGE for its time and all my friends were envious.
1024x768, sometimes 1600x1200
