What has your monitor size/resolution increase throughout the years looked like?

Got my first computer in 1999 and my first three monitors were all 19 inchers at 1152x864 (KDS, KDS 'trinitron', Samsung 900NF). In 2009 I made the jump to a 1920x1200 24" and my last two monitors have been this size & resolution (first P-MVA, now P-IPS). My eyesight is not the best and those two resolution-size combos fit it well.

There's no point for me to get multiple monitors for Eyefinity as only the central portion of my glasses is in focus.

Well, my Atari 800XL was technically a TV, so taht doesn't count.

'94 - 15" Gateway CRT. Could do 1280x1024 refresh was awful at that resolution

'98 - 19" Gateway Trinitron CRT. This bad boy made all the geeks do a double take at college. An absolute great monitor that lasted me until 2007.

2007 - 22" Chemei 1680x1050 TN LCD. It was good for its time. I still have it as a 2ndary monitor, although it sometimes doesn't like to turn on for me.

2012 - 24" Dell U2412M - My current 1200p EIPS baby

Was never interested in computers till color was fairly common so no monochrome here.

Seems like the first monitor was a 14 or 15 inch and 640 by 480 sure rings a bell...

800 by 600 was a pure luxury upgrade!

Ran a 17" Sony Trinitron for years. Don't remember the rez, maybe 1024 by 768 or maybe 1280x1024?

Then there was a full screen 19" ViewSonic 1280x1024 LCD (hated it, too slow).

A 20" Samsung wide screen

A Dell 20 or 22 inch LCD display.

And finally my current gold standard 27.5 inch Hanns.G LCD @ 1900 by 1200.

The 27.5" seemed so big at first but now all the others seem so small...

1999: CRT
2012: CRT

I have tried other monitors and just can't be happy, it's either not fast enough or the quality is lower than my CRT.

There is no winning.

~14" TV for a C64 and later Amiga 500 - still running!!
15" CRT 1024x768 - can't remember the brand, dead
17" LCD 1280x1024 (PVA) - Fujitsu-Siemens, still used by my parents - absolutely breathtaking colors
22" LCD 1680x1050 (TN) - Samsung, sold it - I heard it died
24" LCD 1920x1200 (TN) - Samsung, broken
40" HDTV 1080p - Samsung, current

Next one will be over 50", 120Hz and support some form of 3D - at least. I'll try to not get a Samsung.

Had a mixed bag of monitors with my current being a 17'' 1280x1024 lcd gateway that came with a budget used pc.

Kinda having a hard time wanting to get even a budget 1600x900 20'' as this monitor is giving off some nice colors for a 2005 model, and the fact i don't need a monstor card to max out this resolution could have me using this thing till it dies.

early 90s: monochrome green, with one attempt at a 28" Engineering CRT monitor from my father's factory that didn't go well.

mid 90s: 14" 1024x768 CRT
1997: 17" 1600x1200 CRT by KFC with Degausing! ...2 or 3 other 17"s over they years
2006: 20.1" 1600x1200 Samsung 204b - loved it but...

last month: 23" Samsung S23A700D 120Hz - now i'm a believer, AMEN!

No kidding! I loved those things! Never had one myself but spent a lot of time on my friend's. He had DCTV and later a different Amiga with an OpalVision.

I don't ever remember the mouse going wonky on the Amiga, maybe something about a special pointer co-proc?

Sometime around 1999 I moved from a 1024x768 15" CRT to a 17" CRT @ 1280x960.

Around late 2002/early 2003 I got an IBM P275 (21" CRT) capable of 2048x1536@75hz but due to the incredibly small text size I typically ran 1600x1200@120hz.

In 2006 I bought a BenQ 241FPW (24" LCD) and moved to 1920x1200. I ran the CRT next to my LCD until early this year, when I tossed the CRT due to the colors starting to fade.

2004 - No name brand 17" LCD @ 1280x1024

2009 - 22" Acer TN Panel @ 1920x1080

2010 - 27" HP 2710m TN Glossy Panel @ 1920x1080. Loved this one, vibrant colors that pop

2011 - Three 24" Dell 2412m IPS Panel @ 5760x1200. My first Eyefinity setup, it was not as great as I though it would be. The heavy anti-glare coating on these Dells was a turnoff coming from my HP glossy monitor. Three monitors in landscape was far too wide, and three monitors in portrait was not good for watching videos.

2012 - 30" HP ZR30w, Two 20" Dell 2007FP @ 4960x1600. By far my favorite setup. It's the perfect balance between gaming, movies, and browsing. And hey, maybe one day we'll get drivers that allow for PLP Eyefinity and this configuration will be even more amazing.

Had a 19" CRT that I played at the highest resolution that my hardware could handle (boy was it nice to not be confined to a "native" resolution

That monitor blew up and I got a 19" LCD (1280x1024)

Out grew that and I'm on my current 24" (1920x1200) and I plan on sticking with it until I can get a 120Hz 2560x1440 IPS monitor. Probably a 27" (thats assuming they'll even exist anytime soon)

17" Digiview CRT
19" Dell CRT

19" Samsung 193p+ 1280 x 1024
19" Samsung 914v 1280 x 1024

21" Samsung 215TW 1680 x 1050
22" Samsung 2232BW 1680 x 1050

27" Samsung P2770HD 1920 x 1080
27" Auria EQ276W 2560 x 1440

Apparently I like to buy screens in pairs (one craptastic the other a decent one). On another note, looking for reviews on the 193p is the reason I found AT in the first place.
