Hey everyone,

For my birthday my uncle got me a very cool DELL Digital Jukebox (15gb).

But the earphones they come with are absolutely garbage (the same ones came with my girlfriends creative labs nuvo mx player). They fall outta my ears, and if i can get them in they start to hurt.

So what is the best kind that sits in the ear comfortably, goes in easily and is lightweight.?

Thanks

I have heard that the iPOD headphones are really good are they? Would they work on the Dell dj?

I cant get regular earbuds to even stay in and they hurt.

Those look like gel filled in-ear canal. I have never tried those, are they comfortable?

I use the in ear gel-bud to talk in the car handless got one of em from radioshack.

if you have the money, the best earbuds (from what I've read) are the Etymotic ER-4Ps. For less than that the Shure's that werk mentionned are supposedly good, as are Etymotic's one-step-down earphone (ER-6 IIRC). If you're not willing to spend that kind of money on earphones, the Sony MDR-EX71SLs are nice at ~$40 (I own a pair and I think they are very good, though maybe a little boomy).

Edit: I should mention that all the earphones I mentionned are in-canal, though the Sony's don't go in as deep as the Etymotics.

They come with three sets of silicone inserts (pictured) and three sets of memory foam inserts. Small, medium, and large. I find the memory foam to provide better sound isolation, but they would wear out their "memory" after a few uses. So I use the silicone ones daily. At first, it felt weird, but now I'm used to them and find them perfectly comfortable. It sucks that there's no real way to "try them on" before you spend $100 on them though.

Obviously, you won't get a good price on anything if you browse Sony's site . I got my EX71SLs on Ebay for something like $44 shipped IIRC. For cheaper than that, look for the Sennheiser MX500s that were mentionned earlier.
I bought canalphones because regular earbuds keep falling out of my ears, the canalphones work well and don't fall out though.

Chaintech Body Theater. I  mine. I got them used for $3.50 shipped, some guy got them with his motherboard. I'm not exactly an audiphile, but they sound quite good to me.

The etymotics are great. I own a pair. However, they are not great for the gym, because the cord is microphonic, or whatever the term is, wherein you can hear it swooshing around and hitting against your shirt. For this reason, the shure line is probably better for exercising. The mx500 sennheisters are also good, but they are much more loose-fitting.

The nice thing about the shure and etys are that they block out a lot of ambient noise. So you can use them on planes and other high noise areas.

I'd avoid the shure's for gym use as well because of the same cord-noise issue. I've read that it's not as noticable as the ety's, but I find it to be distracting on mine. Plus, I sweat alot, and I don't like sweating on my expensive earphones. I take cheapo sonys to the gym.

However, the shures, like the ety's, have awesome blocking of other outside noises. I bought them to block out noise on the subway and they work great.

Sennheiser MX-400s or if you want volume control on the cord the 500s.

You cannot beat these headphones for the price. They are under $20 and sound better then almost everything else out there. Don't be foolder by overpriced Sony stuff. They are just selling you the brand name. The Sennheiser ones are your best bet and anyone who has used them will agree.
