I am getting e6300. What HSF should I get? I don't want something super loud. I have an antec p180 case and want to have an effective HSF for overclocking, yet not be as loud as my current computer's fan. Thanks.

Hmm... there isn't really a lot of room height wise in that case, is there. You may want to check out the thermalright si-128 or 120. If you think you have enough room, newegg has the scythe mine for $35 shipped. It performs very well and does it pretty quietly. Something like 35dba on high. BTW, it's core 2 duo, not duo core .

Did you need to use anything other than Thermalright's new retension clip to mount that XP-90c?

Oops, I forgot about that. Yea, you also need to buy the LGA775 adapter kit, about $5.

Cool. I have a e6400 coming. I also have an unused XP-90 sitting around that was intended for a A64 build. Any tips or tricks besides the adapter kit?

Not really. It's an easy install. You put a metal cross piece on the back of the board, run some screws through the holes, and attach 2 plastic bars. The XP-90 then clips on to the bars. I have the heat pipes facing up on mine because that allows the heatsink to overhang the northbridge and get some air blowing on it.

Are there any other good ones out there? I am building an HTPC and am using an E6400. I don't think I'll have enough room in there for the Thermalright XP-90c

Well, I just got a Scythe Infinity and it's pretty sweet, but very heavy and very huge. I've heard good things about the Thermalright 120 though.

I use a Scythe Ninja+ and it fits just fine in my P180 and is really quiet + cools effectively.

It's not a huge heatsink as far as height goes. You may even be able to use it without a fan as long as you have decent airflow in the case, and aren't overclocking. Playing UT2k4 I keep all of my fans speed all the way down and the computer barely even blows warm air.

scythe mine... $35 shipped from newegg. Includes 10cm fan, built in actually. Same performance as ninja and a little better than anything thermalright has to offer.
