What ICH4 i850 boards are capable of 533FSB?

I'm looking to make the 1.8A-to-2.4GHz overclock in a very up-to-date board. The i850E (533FSB) boards don't include the ICH4 southbridge chipset except the fluke from Gigabyte. I'm not interested in Gigabyte's board because of all the extra baggage... Promise ATA133 RAID + Custom ATA BIOS (Crap. XP can do software RAID), Dual BIOS (What's the point?), Realtek LAN (It'll be redundant with my 3Com/Intel cards), NEC USB2.0 chip (Redundant with the ICH4. I don't need that many USB2 root ports!) and integrated Creative sound (WHY?!)....
I know not all regular i850 boards can do 533 because of other components (Clock generator crystals on some of the Asus ones for example), and I don't want to "get lucky" or have to mod a board when I could have just bought a different one. What other options are there for 533 + ICH4? Thnx!

Digitimes has some news on the 850E ICH4 combo.

"Currently, Asustek and Gigabyte are two companies that have started shipping USB 2.0-supporting 850E boards on a small scale. Gigabyte has updated product specifications by replacing the original ICH2 chip with the newer ICH4, while Asustek chose to add a USB chip made by NEC. In the future, Asustek will also launch 850E/ICH4 motherboards."

does the P4T-E has ICH4 southbridge? I think it is only in the i850E mobos. You should look for the P4T533-c mobo..

The P4T-E is not even a 850E mobo...

The P4T533 is an 850E mobo. However, non of its flavors at this time have IC4, they all have IC2.

I think aside from that Gigabyte mentioned above, there are not at 850E/IC4 yet. Hell, I think the mobo vendors could care less about they 850E. Abit is not even making an 850E and that says alot...

Ummm, CZroe is not asking for an i850-E board...he is asking for an i850 board with the new clock generators and if CZroe would click my link...he would be dialed up!!

Well buddy, you're in luck. Asus and Gigabyte look like they are changing there specifications to include the ICH4 southbridge on their newer i850E based motherboards. More information here.

To better position their products with higher specifications, first-tier motherboard makers Asustek Computer and Gigabyte Technology have chosen to update their latest 850E- based boards to support the USB 2.0 standard by using an extra USB IC and adopting Intel?s ICH4 south bridge chip, respectively.
I wouldn't settle for anything less than a i850E based motherboard if you are going to build a P4 system in the near future. If you don't want to rely on luck or price hiked motherbaord with the proper clock gens, then the P4T533-C is the way to go. No doubt about it.

Sorry dude, I just saw that Asus isn't including the ICH4 southbridge with their new i850E motherboard (they are simply using an NEC chip).

Well, I'm all out of ideas. I'll just waiting for Asus to incorporate the ICH4 southbridge on their boards...I've got time.

Sorry I haven't been back to the thread in a while (Been busy filming for the Nintendo Street Team entry...). Thnx for the responses!
Anyway...
fkloster:

I saw that in another poost of yours. Thnx, but it's still to expensive for a feature that an official chipset can already do. Hopefully it will go down now that official 533FSB chipsets are out
68GTX: I may just wait for the "future" Asus board, but by that time I'm sure one with AGP 8x & Serial ATA (and/or ATA133) will be on its way. There's never a perfect time to strike is there?
JackBurton: Thnx, that's the news that prompted this post actually I'm a little peeved that only Gigabyte is daring enough to do this right off the bat. Abit, where are you?! The dual-Celeron Abit BP6 was an Intel standard-shirking Godsend!

What so special about the ICH4 southbridge? IIRC the only thing it offers over the ICH2 southbridge is USB2.0 and ATA133 support. All shipping i850E motherboards have onboard USB2.0 ports and ATA133 isn't noticeably faster then ATA100.

So grab a P4R533-N or P4T533-C and start overclocking

Having more than one root hub uses more than one set of resources and exponentially increases the possibility of resource conflicts and compatability issues. Not to mention, EVERY USB2.0 product should be compatable with an Intel USB2 chipset or else they go bankrupt Besides, it doesn't even have ATA133
