England gained control of the Palestine territories after WW1 with the defeat of the Ottoman Empire, which sided with Germany.
After WW2, it no longer wanted that can of worms and left in 1948.
This caused Israel to be formed, also in 1948.

How would the world be different today if England maintained control?

I don't think that part of the world would change much.
England began shedding it's colonies a decade later with the last being Hong Kong in 1999.
It would have just delayed the inevitable of Palestine no longer under British rule and the creation of a separate Jewish country.

And we're back to the Palestine/Jewish conflict in that region

-The French and British Empire would still be standing, we would have never left the age of Empires.

We would have never gone to the moon, developed such a robust Airline/Aviation industry, rocketry, radio (and really all things wireless), computers, etc.

Women would have not gained more rights or would have gained them slower. Same with anyone non-white in the US.

No Interstate highway system, no red scare to propell American industry to new heights (and perhapse way less shady shit being done by our Intel agencies and military).

Would have been a completely different, unrecognizable world, and not necessarily for the better.

In other words, everything happens for a reason. The way time flows with the events that happen along side are because they NEED to happen. I do wish horrible things DIDN'T happen but they are part and parcel of what being human means. Everyone knows something or has some skill and then everyone uses their brains to try to get an edge over others, even if others have superior abilities. It's been happening since time immemorial. The jerks that end up using us and profiting off of us, maybe they need to do that to serve purposes we can't fathom. Maybe in the end, their dick moves will lead to something better.

Fact is, we don't know anything about the future and our best predictions fail. It's like we are NOT in control, no matter how much we pretend we are. A nuclear war could break out tomorrow. Humanity could almost get wiped out. Fast forward few centuries later, and somehow, through rapid advancements of future born humans, we are colonizing planets, even outside our solar system. It's just one discovery that changes everything. The face of reality can warp into something totally unrecognizable and unfathomable.
