I'll do my best to explain my point: If there are multiple gods and they are always changing, everything would be relative like you said. Since everything is relative, by definition there would be no absolute, thus there cannot be any &quot;correct/absolute morality or rule&quot; and our actions cannot be compared to a set standard to determine the right and wrong. This justifies us to do whatever we want, as long as it can be explained away.

There is no set standard. There is no absolute good and wrong. Whether something is seen as 'wrong' or 'right' depends on time, place and person(s). Things that are now accepted would be classified as a criminal offense or worse a few hundred years ago. Those objective, man-made frame of rules which we use to judge everything are called ethics and they change over time and from place to place.

My initial proposition didn't even assert that a God was a given. It was offered as a hypothetical.

If there are indeed 'gods', then there will be an infinite number of gods.

Elledan, I agree that society lives by ethics, and that ethics change over time and from place to place. Do you think one society's ethics can be considered better than another?? For instance, do you think the ethics we have today in the U.S. is better or worse than the ethics in the U.S. 200 years ago?
