What if there were no overclocking in this world?

I guess intel and amd would make alot more cash. Instead of buying the chip that can meet your needs oberclocked only a person would have to purchase the chip that met their needs.

Nutjobs would no longer be obsessed with numbers that some synth benchmark puts out. Stopped worrying about temps and bragging about their 4 minute stable 7 ghz OC. Gamers would have about 5-10 fps less and spent about $400 less and no threads discussing about iodinized mega pure non conductive liquid for their water coolers....thats about it.

Then I would buy cheaper ram, cooling, and motherboard and use the money saved on a faster cpu.
What if there was a world where hard drives and optical drives could be overclocked and those hypothetical people right now are staring at a thread in a forum wondering if there was a world where they couldn't be overclocked?

Certainly not a life changer... probably.... But it's certainly one of the most fun things to do with a computer.

I don't think this would change anything. I bought my OG Phenom because it was a $100 quad core. Athlon X4 was for the same reason. E6600 because it had the most cache. Athlon 2500+ because it was a Barton core.

99% of computers at Best Buy are equivalent to Celeron processors.

Intel's E5200 probably pulls in a lot more money than the i7 920 does. I don't think I've ever seen an i7 in Best Buy or Staples
