Ok i was messing around with comp, right, so then instead of unplugging a fan i unplug harddrive and some toehr stuff, and my comp goes dead. I finish re-wiring to make everything neat. Now comp wont turn on??? What could be the problem?

Hard drive? motherboard? Power supply?

You didn't say if it was turned on or not while you were going this. If so I wouldn't even of been unplugging fans.

Well once you replace whatever part(s) you killed, you now know NEVER unplugg ANYTHING in your PC when it's running.

Now Does it power on at all IE fans spin up ect or nothing? If nothing hopfully its just a dead PSU and you didn't kill any data on the HDD.

Okay well unplugg the ATX connector from you MOBO grab a paper clip and stick on end of the paper clip in the green wires connector and the other end in the connector for one of the black wires on the PSU cable and see if it powers on.

No you won't get shocked touching the paper clip.

If it doesn't power on 1 step is to replace the PSU with a new one.

The main connector from the Power supply directly to the motherboard. "The Big One" with 20 pins. It should have 1 green wire and a bunch of black one. connect a paper clip from the green wire to a black on and see if it powers the PSU on.

Its recommended to keep your computer plugged in, but OFF, and cooled when you work on it. And the PSU switch OFF as well. This way the computer stays grounded, anbd you a re safe just so long as you never mess witht he Power Supply! Power supply can hold thousands of volts even when not plugged in.
To check temperatures, you turn it on, let it run for several minutes, then probe it. If you want to try with and without fans, you turn it off, let it cool, and unplug the fans, start it up, then probe it again. You must never have the computer running, even when doing simple changes.

Anyway, did you happen to unplug the +5V switch for the power button?

Okay so the PSU turns on with jumpering the ATX connector.

Now like Cid said did u bump the case connectors to power on the motherboard? They woudl be coming from the front of the case and plug in into the Mobo most likely on the lower part of the mobo.

Make sure those are plugged in. If they are plugged in correctly take the jumper off the System power pins and touch each end with the paper clip again and see if it powers on.

i thought after creating over 20 seperate threads pertaining to your 1 computer build, you would have learned something....

what would happen if everyone making a computer spammed the GH forums like you? this place would be a nightmare. next time, consolidate all of these useless threads into 1 thread.
