What inspired you to join AT forums?

I got banned at another computer forum for asking for a crack on a disk recovery software after accidentally deleting the wrong folder, so decided I needed another tech site to lurk/post at.

When I was doing a crazy expensive computer build that I started researching in '02.

I was reading the main site a lot then I'd go into the PC hardware forums then I found my way into the Hot Deals section and that's what hooked me.

I ordered a lot of the parts for my build from deals I found and then wandered on over to OT to see what it was all about and have been here ever since.

The way I discovered Anandtech at all though was from CPU magazine, Anand was a contributing writer and in the front of the magazine it listed all the contributing writers and their sites so I checked them all out but liked anandtech the most.

I didn't like the whole Tom's Hardware overhaul, so I looked for a new posting place. This board was referenced on that board a lot.

I was researching which motherboard to get for a K6-2 350Mhz cpu that someone had given me... I really liked the review/comparison with the Tyan board on AT. After visiting AT several times, I eventually joined the forums...

For a more interesting story...
Is who gave me the K6-2 CPU...

I was logged into my shell on my ISP (zipcon.net) and was playing around learning linux commands. (this was before I ever installed linux on my own computers)
I found "talk" and used it to talk to someone else I found logged in, using "who"
I was telling that person about my AMD 5x86 120Mhz and how I built my computer, was leaning linux, etc, etc. He said he had some K6-2's lying around and offered to send me one. So being the astute person I am, I gave him our PO box (thus assuring no anal rapage) and he sent me the CPU.

Oh and eventually I joined TeAM AnandTech and crunched eccp & seti wu's with that guy one post above, but I don't any more cause I dont have time and such....
