What is a good DDR motherboard?

I was looking at the Iwill KA266-R and was thinking about buying it but I am not sure if it is a good DDR board. Is the KA266-R a good DDR board and if not what is?

if not go for the epox 8k7a, or if you need raid, go for the gigabyte 7dxr, they're both really nice motherboards, has all the bells and whistles to overclock if youre into that kind of stuff

If you don't need raid, the 8K7A is an awesome DDR motherboard. The 8K7A+ is the raid version of this motherboard, but it is quite hard to find I believe.

MSI K7 MASTER. Anandtech recommended it for their high end systems. You can check out the article. They even have a K& MASTER-S version with SCSI if your into that.

ASUS also has the A7M266.

You should decide which chipset you want to use: AMD761, VIA or ALi.
AMD is the top performing now. However we have the NVIDIA nForce and SIS chipsets coming later this year.

The K7 Master-S is not a DDR board it is based on the KT133A chipset. I found that out cuz I was going to buy one, I did get an Epox 8k7a and so far I'm loving it. Also I decided to go with the amd761 over the other chipsets cuz it offered more performance. I've had my system up and running for the last 6 days (since I got it) and it hasn't crashed or errored...*knock on wood*.

I don't need RAID but I thought it would be cool to have in case I got another hard drive to try it out. I guess I would be looking for a DDR board that has the AMD761 chipset.

you dont know what you're talking about, the K7 Master-S IS a DDR board, the K7T Master-S is the one you're talking about, geez

Another vote for the Epox 8K7A. It has the AMD 761 chipset, which is a better performer than either the ALi MAGiK1 or the KT266. The KT266 chipset may improve over time, but if you want a good DDR board now, go for one with the AMD 761. That includes both the Epox 8K7A and the Gigabyte 7DXR.

I was about to ask a similar question. Which of the DDR boards has phase 3 power support supposedly required for the Palominos?

7DXR! Gigabyte has already 1 months ago published a list with A4 compatible boards. The 7DXR has a 3 way power supply, and the 8k7A only a 2 way supply. But that has NOTHING to do with A4 compatibility. read the explanation in the review below
