What is better? DmC: Devil May Cry or MG Rising: Revengeance

Was wanting to get into a slasher game since I recently bought a Controller for my PC. Specially since I haven't owned a gaming Console since the first Xbox came out. I satisfied my needs for racing games recently via Origin access and now I need a "Slasher" style game as they call them.

My two candidates are DmC: Devil May Cry or Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Both can be bought for $6 online.

Which one would you pick and why?

Metal Gear Rising Revengeance is much better than the Devil May Cry game you are looking at. It's made by Platinum games who are the ones behind Bayonetta and Nier:Automata. If you grab the original Devil May Cry from the HD collection, not DmC then it's better than Metal Gear Rising. The combo system in Metal Gear Rising and the boss fights are much more satisfying than DmC. The storyline is meh, but cool in its own way. There are a lot of collectables and unlockable weapons with varying special abilities.

It’s called Devil May Cry. Not to be confused with DmC: Devil May Cry. It has a different protagonist as well. It’s available as part of the Devil May Cry HD collection. It is the first game in the series first released on PlayStation 2 back in 2001.

It's worth noting that the director of the original Devil May Cry (Hideki Kamiya) works for Platinum Games. Although, he wasn't the director of Revengeance.

Yes I feel it is. It’s probably the game that started the genre off and paved the way for Bayonetta, the newer Ninja Gaiden titles, and others.

Nier:Automata and Bayonetta are both really good.

It should be mentioned that although Metal Gear Rising Revengeance is less than 10 hours total, there is new game+ and some unlockables that require subsequent play throughs. Maybe that’s not your thing and I understand.

If its the new DMC then get MGS Revengence. But I would suggest that you get the devil may cry hd collection as it has DMC 3 and that is the best slasher game you can get.

Also check out Ninja Gaiden 2, Bayonetta, Nier: Automata and MGS Revengence too as they are the best in the genre.

I didn't care for either game to be honest, or Nier Automata. Something about the gameplay in these games just doesn't work for me.

Well, the one on PC is an HD collection so it's slightly better graphically though don't expect miracles.

DMC all the way. I like Dante slashing demons with ebony and ivory and kill counter getting higher with every enemy killed.

I liked DMC 4... I think.

I tried Automata again the other night but I still hate it. After about 20 minutes I died at the same part and had to start all over again. I don't have the time for that nonsense anymore...
