What is Divinity Original Sin 2 like

Hi Everyone

I have been interested in DOS 2 for awhile now, as I loved the first game. However, I cant seem to find if the game is finished or if it is still in "early access" or whatever they call it?

Has anyone played the game, and could you tell me if it is a finished product, and how it compares to the first game?

I believe the first chapter is available with early access, and that there are no plans to include any other chapters prior to the games full release.

Last I checked, Steam reviews were overwhelmingly positive.

I loved the original as well but am waiting for the full release.

I've played the EA as part of the kickstarter (I think it was $20 or $25). Anyway it is like D:OS but much stronger on story. Some of the mechanic changes I'm undecided about but too early to say as they keep tweaking them (reason for EA).

I am patiently waiting for them to complete the game before I even look at it, but that didn't stop my buddy for raving about the game over Skype the other night for about an hour straight. We both fell in love with the first game and played it many times in many different ways. He couldn't help it and bought into the EA and has been helping root out some bugs, so I guess I have to give him some props. Still, what he said is everything that we loved about the first game is still there and everything that needed improving has been improved and expanded upon greatly.

I was interested in the first one but I never got around to getting it. After, I learned that it was way more complicated to learn the play and be good at than I originally thought.

YES! its one of the best TBS RPGs of recent years. especially if you're the kind of person who looks for ways to break the system all the time.

Yea I wouldn't be doing that. I'm more concerned about the learning curve. I am not very good at rts games unless we are talking about company of heros which is the last rts type of game I tried.

Divinity is not a Real Time Strategy it is a turn based RPG game. The learning curve is pretty forgiving, and as long as you are not playing it on the hardest setting it is not that hard of a game.

I'm going to check out the second game videos just for fun but it seems like I should buy the original. I remember I played a demo at one point when it was first released and thought it was unique.

Definitely play the first game. I just went with a generic setup (healer, tank, rogue, mage) setup and I only had issues with two bosses. The atmosphere and the possibilities for what you can do is outstanding. The first game was one of the very few that drew me in so deep that I considered calling in sick just to keep playing the game - I didn't want to put it down.

I tried to play it with my girlfriend but I didn't realize we both had to use controllers which I couldn't stand. I wish they made the option to do similar to a lot of indie games where one person uses a keyboard/mouse and the other uses a controller.

Two people can play with keyboard if you use different computers. It only does the controller thing if you are both playing together off of one computer - having said that you might not want (or be able) to do the two computer thing.

Yea, I preferred a controller for some things like inventory management, but definitely a kb/mouse for combat.

I meant in terms of story and what not. I figured since the second one won't be done for a while I may as well just get the first game anyway although I would like the nicer graphics.

I played the early access for an hour or so and it looks very promising. They tweaked it a bit but overall pretty much the same. I loved the combat in the first game so very much looking forward to playing the second game.

And no you don't need to play the first to enjoy the second. The second game is set a thousand years or so after the first and has little link to it.
I think it must be due for release soon?

No word on when it will be released. It states 2017 but they are still working on the other acts. It's possible that it could take longer. I'll grab the enhanced edition today and by the time I'll be done the #2 should be complete.

The big difference (imho) between the first and the second will be that the story will be much tighter. The 1st sort of rambled senselessly. They did tweak a lot of the mechanics and added a bit for height but still feels mostly the same (combat).
