how is it a COMMON courtesy? Common would dictate that it goes both ways, I put the toilet seat down for you, you put it up for me. but that's NOT what women want so don't pretend.
chivalry has went down the toidy

I assume that you use toilet paper to whipe your butt after your done a number 2.

Do you also use toilet paper to whipe your penis after you are done a number 1?
If not. That could be a reason. A woman will use toilet paper for both.
Yeah, but still. How many squares is too much?

"I can't spare a square"

*curses*

im seriously laughing out loud at this thread

1) So by common courtesy you should put the toilet seat UP when your done in case a guy comes in to take a number 1 after you are done.

no, she didn't actually MEAN common courtesy, she meant slavish devotion to her needs.

well...she did SAY common courtesy

chivilary has went down the toidy

chivalry went down when women forgot their place.

JUST KIDDING.

face it, you want equality, you got it baby. chivalry is just a way to say we wait on our women in public so people can't see what jerks we are to them in private. that's chivalry. all bs if you ask me.

another thing i would do if people bitch is just don't dry your hands right away after washing and get as much water all over the seat as you can, they are unpleasently suprised yet its still not all that "gross"

You poke a hole in the middle. Run your middle finger up through it, and use your finger to clean out your butt-hole. Make sure you rub it all the way up there.

Agreed! If I stumble into the bathroom at 3am to drop a deuce, I'm sure as hell gonna check the seat. Honestly, why would anyone sit before looking anyway? (Serious question)

well, my boyfriend has been so well trained by his mother that he yells at me for not putting the toilet lid down before I flush.. plus i grew up in a house where the seat is always down so I naturally don't look to see if the seat is down.

well, we didn't all grow up in that kind of family environment. Your boyfriend is "so well trained" by his mom? Words fail me at this juncture.

ugh, pick over my verbage why don't you.

lets put it this way: when you flush the toilet thousands of pee particles are sprung up into the air by the flushing of the toilet.. most people keep things like THEIR TOOTHBRUSHES in said bathroom.. their point is that when you flush with the lid up you are essentially spraying pee all over your toothbrush. They have a point and I always try to put the lid down before I flush now.

And no, I do not pee all over the toilet if I don't notice the lid is down until after i start to sit.. I don't actually start to pee until I know that everything is under control. Geeze.

My question is: Why are you people getting so angry over such a stupid issue?!

i never asked for total equality. after all, we don't have penises, so we can't be totally equal.

How so? It's common courtesy if you are a guest at a woman's place, but the discussion did not start with that situation.
no, it was a work situation, and like someone has already posted: we don't want to see your dribbles so put the seat down.

what's the big deal? it's more of an ego thing not to put it down, eh?

Is it more of an ego thing to not put it up?

makes you wonder huh. why do you think so many guys are posting in this thread like they are, because they have all been nagged to death by women about it. so the more appropriate question is, "Why can't the women get over it?"

My girlfriend explains it like this...

No, the thing is, men and women each have two bodily functions right?
So that makes four types of variables. And how many require the seat to be down?
3 of the 4. Therefore the seat should be down

Though I still don't see why they have to complain. If the default position is down, that means all of us guys have to put it up, so why should women complain about having to put it down? Why do we have to do BOTH the putting up and putting down? Generally when I'm in someone else's home, I always leave it where I found it. But if women want equal treatment, then they shouldn't expect to always have the seat the way they want it. And there's absolutely NO excuse for accidentally sitting on the rim.

i've never asked anyone to put the seat down. but you know when you are around a cool considerate guy when he just does it automatically.

You're one of those "bathroom freaks" aren't you?

The OC types. Where you'll pay no mind to what you eat or where it comes from but god forbid you touch places that hands have touched in the restroom.

I've learned something new. Thanks for the educational tip. Thankfully my tooth brush is waaay out of reach from said toilet. However, I have to say, I've never felt any spray of water when flushing the toilet

not exactly true. on any given day people will go #1 6 or 7 times. #2 1 or 2 times. hence hte majority of times for guys, they have no need for it being up.

given the work scenario, some guys do #2 once and some not at all. (personally i do #2 when i get up and when i get home from work). so it doesn't benefit many guys.

Honestly, I will admit that I am not that bothered by the seat being up.. Its not something I would ever nag about because I would rather a man leave the seat up than pee with the seat down and get pee all over it.

Women can't shake it off like us guys when therefore it is naturally they use more TP papers. Another thing is that your GF may have Overactive bladder (OAB) that may require more regular bathroom usage and TP papers.
