And it will be all their fault That will be my new full time job since i won the lottery i wont need to work. Ill just go around getting into fender benders with retards who tailgate for no reason.

Any halfway competent lawyer could get you convicted of insurance fraud. Look up "swoop-and-squat" sometime.

The idea that the guy who rear-ends someone will "always" get the blame isn't true.
There was a WC Fields movie like this. He was given a million dollars and bought cars to crash into road hogs.

RE: driving in snow

Stopping on ice or snow is not always the best thing to do.

Damn straight. Best to always keep your tires rolling.

That way you maintain control.

Yup. It's key.

One of the harder things to learn is to steer INTO a slide to get your wheels rolling again so you can regain directional control. It's counter-intuitive, something you have to practice. But that's what snow bound mall parking lots are for.

Man, I've "practiced" that so many times on so many roads that I don't understand how people don't find it intuitive!

I mean, even if you just LET GO of your steering wheel it turns in the right direction...obviously with no finesse and you won't recover that way, but the car naturally wants to do the right thing already!

Driving in the snow is all about momentum control. In a dynamic friction environment, your tires actually exert more force sideways than they do straight forwards and back. This is why rally drivers are always sliding around corners when it's snowy, muddy, or on a dirt or gravel track. Obviously most people aren't good enough to use these advanced techniques, but the general principle of steering before braking holds...

I'm not shy about camping my SUV in the left lane If I can piss off some self-righteous hater coming zipping up from behind......otherwise I just drive normal and use the left lane to pass.

Probably should give yourself some extra time and mellow out a little if people driving the speed are pissing you off....Oh wait, you're the fvcker that gets pissed off based on what vehicle other drivers are driving too bummer

You can also throw yourself into a slide to change direction.
Say you are going in a straight line. There is a bend to the right and you turn the wheel to the right but the car keeps going straight. Tap the accelerator and the rear end will catch up (slide left) to the direction the tires are pointed (right). The car is now lined up for the turn. Straighten the wheel and away you go.

Take 5 minutes and seriously think about driving. How we all share the road and there are written and unwritten rules to follow that make things run smoothly.

A "speeder" in the left lane bothers you how? If you were not camping in the left lane, the speeder would blow by you (is that the problem, inferiority?) and be gone in matter of seconds. Be thankful they are being the rabbit clearing the way of all speed traps.

Now flip the coke can, you camping in the left lane bothers everyone behind you. Somehow this act makes you feel more like a man, but instead of just conceding that someone wants to drive faster than you (OH MY GOD), you slow up traffic and cause aggravation to everyone behind you because you can't have some common courtesy.

Someone going 85 in the left lane isnt causing accidents. Compound that with angry lane changes (because they have to get around you) is what does. Please do not do this anymore and just get over yourself.

What I hate even worse is when the person in the left lane in front of me is going 60mph so I speed up to go around them. Well they just HAVE to put the petal to the metal then to make their d*ck feel bigger and prevent me from passing them. I swear the interstate will be the death of me. I want to run over these people.

What? So you are dick if you feel the need to be, without knowing the driver, the circumstances, or why they are speeding. You' probably camp on a man and wife, with the wife in labor, when they are doing like 68 in a 65. They could be sick, in trouble, w/e reason, you are not responsible or given authority by the public to enforce speed limit laws. The most we ask you to do is stop and report drunk drivers. That's just about the scope of it. Otherwise, mind your own business. stay out of the left lane.

This isn't about the speed limit. It's about camping in the left lane. Unless you are obstructed from safely changing lanes to get into the right lane, you are (in most states) legally obligated to get out of the left lane immediately. This has nothing to do with how fast the car behind you is going. It doesnt even matter IF there is a car behind you to begin with.

As soon as you get into the left lane, you better be passing, and the second you are in the lane, you need to be looking for your way back out of it.

Not saying I'm hoping, but maybe one of these days you'd just piss off an asshole that had a bad day and a gun under his seat.

The funny part it won't be me who does it. I don't like cars and do not drive. So ha.

Well, maybe one of these days Anubis will piss someone off behind him and that driver will reach for the gun in the glove box gun. While his hand is in the glove box, the box suddenly closes closes smashing his fingers and causing him to yelp in pain and momentarily let go of the wheel. The car will then careen off the road and head towards the bus stop you are waiting at. You will try to get out of the way in time but you just can't seem move fast enough to get out of the way. To you this looks like the end. As you dive to the side it seems as though through luck is on your side and the car will just brush against your foot, sending your right shoe flying off to the left. Getting up and brushing yourself off you will consider yourself very lucky to have escaped certain doom. Thats when the meteorite lands on your face.

Your shoe (they only part of you they could find)will serve as a memorial to remind people to get out of the way of slow moving cars or people will get hit by meteorites.

Maybe one day you people will figure out sarcasm and or read the fucking thread where i said i was NOT BEING SERIOUS

What is wrong with the autobahn?

Any decent car is just as solid at 100 as it is at 60 these days... speed limits here are an absolute joke used to create the illusion of safety for the millions of people who have no idea what the hell they are doing on the road. Thanks of course to driving tests that consist of a K-turn, driving in reverse in a straight line, and stopping at a stop sign (of which you only need to do 2 of 3 correctly to pass).

no offense but compared to the German autobahn, the US highway system is falling apart, literally

There are plenty of reasons.

Just because I am going slower than you and may even be going the speed limit - does not mean that I am not passing someone.

When I am doing this and someone is riding my ass - I have little inspiration to do anything to speed up the process.

G-Jax is right, which is why it's important for speeders in the left lane to take into consideration why someone (who may realize they need to gtfo out the left lane) is there. It could that they know the strip of road and it's littered with pot holes that will damage their car, or something like that.

When I'm in the left lane to pass cars, and I come up on someone in the left lane, I try not to just fly up on their ass. I'll slowly creep up and give them time to get over. If I see they have an opportunity to get over and they don't, I may flash my lights, or honk to give them a sign. If they still won't get over, I might get close just for a few seconds, then I'll back off (for safety reasons). If all else fails, I will pass right to go around the oblivious law breaker.

wait, so going the speed limit in the left lane is breaking the law? bullshit. unless the left is specifically marked as a passing lane then you can be in the left lane doing the speed limit with no problem.

It could vary from state to state. In many states, however, if you're just hanging out in the left lane not passing anyone, and you could very well be in the right lane (not heavy traffic, basically), you can be pulled over. There was just an article on MSN recently about this and how more states are starting to actually enforce it. Let me see if I can track it down.

There are signs around that state "Slower Traffic Keep Right". Although these are only posted when it's a two-way single lane road which one of the sides open up to a two lane passing zone in either direction. As far as highways or the expressway goes...no such posting.

A quick google brought this up:

Keep Right Laws

Wow... i'm amazed that anandtech - supposedly a place full of smart people - is actually populated by dozens of white-knuckled kia drivers who freak out at anything going faster than 50mph. Seriously, cars were safely doing 100+ mph ONE HUNDRED YEARS AGO. Now add on 10 decades worth of safety engineering, and you're basically a retard to think that 55/65 mph is the fastest that people can safely drive.

The problem lies with people who are absolutely clueless about how to handle that 3000 lb piece of equipment they're in control of. Driver training in this country is horrible... even when i was getting my license for the first time a few years back, i remember thinking to myself, "lol, this is it??" I got my pilot's license before my car license, and i was seriously amazed at how easy it was to get permission to drive around narrow, crowded, heavily populated streets in a giant, steel battering ram compared to the training required for a pilots license. I mean, in the air, the chances of you plowing into a pedestrian or running off the road are decidedly slim... yet the time spent training a new pilot is 1000 times greater than a new driver.

Point being, cars and roads are more than capable of safely transporting people at (MUCH) higher speeds, but to do this you need to revamp the driver training in this country, and make it something that has to be renewed every couple years. Make driving laws stricter, and you won't see some moron cruising along at 50 in a 65 with their cell phone to their ear, because that kind of inattentive retard wouldn't even qualify for a license.

And now that you've disqualified 75% of the mentally challenged citizens of this country from clogging up the highways, you've got a nice big population who will be wrangling for a better public transportation system. i.e., greener, more efficient transportation. Not to mention the few competent people left on the roads will actually be able to get from point A to point B at a reasonable speed without worrying if Mr. and Mrs. "this car climbed mt washington!!1" are going to absent-mindedly wander into your lane while you're passing them.
