The elephant in the news room.
As the search for Daniel Robinson continues, in a sad new development earlier today, Jelani Day was confirmed dead. But why are we just learning about the disappearance of these two young men, when the Gabby Petito case has received exhaustive media attention?

This is not an elephant and more than one person has been easily able to discuss this issue. But lets go over it yet again.
"The Media" as we are calling it, is only interested in one thing: Money.
They get money through ad revenue. They get ad revenue through ratings or page hits.
They get ratings and page hits by running stories people like to watch, or read.
The American people, as a whole, LOVE stories about kids, animals, and pretty white women. This is sad, but its also reality. We can analyze the shit out of this until the sun cools and expands and the earth is swallowed up. It doesn't matter.
Bottom line is stories about pretty white women disappearing generate considerably more ad revenue than black men disappearing. Does it mean America is racist and sexist? Absolutely. Do any of us have a plan to make America less racist or sexist? Cuz I sure don't. I wouldn't even know where to begin on such an endeavor.
I know its fun to shit on "The Media" because its such an easy target, but the sad truth is they give us exactly what we want. Its our fault, the public, and we blame them for it because thats much easier than blaming ourselves. "The Media" doesn't give a damn about anything. They are cold and ruthless and completely detached from emotion. They only want money. They don't actually choose what to report, we do, with clicks and ratings, and I don't see a solution to this issue.
