What is more important to you? Attractiveness or Personality?

Personality. Some people I do notice for their looks, but what I consider good looking or sexy isn't usually what most people agree on. If I notice someone for looks but then decide their personalities suck I can't ever really be attracted to them again (ie natalie portman). Conversely, even if I don't immediatlely think a person is wholly attractive, spending time with them and coming to really like them makes them desirable to me. But like I said, the things I like most peole don't.

You need a good balance of both. For me, if there is no initial physical attraction, it's VERY difficult for me to think anything would happen. (relationships, not just 1 night stand) Once you get past that, that's when you figure out if she is a keeper or not.

IMHO personality/intelligence is by far more important than looks. Having someone who can speak with you on your level is very important to a relationship. Stupid girls drive me up the wall and it always felt like I was taking advantage of them. I dated one girls for a few weeks, and while she was pretty tasty looking I swear when I looked into her eyes I saw the back of her skull.

I feel really lucky that I am with a women who consistently challenges me and sees through all my BS.

However, if it was an extreme (fantasy) situation, such as an extremely attractive person devoid of personality or an extremely likeable person that is hideously ugly, I would pick the attractive person. I can always ignore the attractive girl and get my social interactions elsewhere. I don't want to have sex with a person that I find hideous.

I'm not saying personality isn't an issue. My perfect woman would be a few years older than me, have her degree, be working in a nice high-skill/paid job, very attractive, and be just as intelligent or more intelligent than me. However, I'm willing to overlook some personality based traits. I've got a very different personality myself, so that's why I say personality isn't that big of a deal. Of course my friends say "good luck" when I mention what would be ideal for me. I just want someone financially secure, a bit older, willing to travel, very intelligent and very attractive. Guess it is like the search for the holy grail. I'll probably never find it, or if I do they won't like me. Oh well, I'm not lowering my standards. I'd rather be alone than settle for less than what I want. I'm an all or nothing kind of person. I either put in 100% or 0%. I want 100% of my goal or I'd rather have just myself. Sure, it is shallow, conceited, arrogant, and possibly impossible, but goals are there for a reason.
