What is my best upgrade path?

Hey guys, I'm looking to upgrade my vid card soon....but wondering if I should do anything about my cpu too.l Here's what I got right now:

Abit Kt7-raid
1 gig Tbird
Geforce 2 Gts

I was getting excited about the geforce 4 ti4200's....but then I started to worry that my cpu is gonna become a nasty bottleneck. If that is the case, what do you think about upgrading to the fasted tbird my mobo will support, a 1.4gig (about $100). Then with a little overclocking luck maybe I can hit 1.5. OR, would it just be better to plop down an extra $100 and get a motherboard than can support athlon xp's? Thanks for any suggestions guys.

IMHO, i would upgrade your VidCard first, then save up for a mobo/cpu upgrade.

The GeForce 4 Ti4200 should be out this month, and will be a very worthwhile investment for $150. And like all past nVidia cards, expect it to be overclockable to cards better than is (the ti4400).

I would hold on the CPU/mobo upgrade. Not worth it at the time, and with a new video card you'll get better picture quality over the GTS without sacrificing your fps count. And if you do not wish to wait for the Ti4200, I'd suggest the GF3 Ti200 and overclock that, or get the Radeon 8500.

Hardly. While it may be a little slow, it won't affect it to the extent that you may be thinking. You'll still get fps better than your GTS and you can enable extra features in games to make them look better.

I think i'll take your guys advice first go for the 4200. Then somewhere down the line I'll upgrade cpu and mobo. Thanks.
