What is the absolute best Anti-Virus program ?

BTW, anyone care to comment on the quality of MS's Security Essentials? I see it getting high marks in AV Comparatives and it's been at least a year of doing well at least.

I bought into ESET when it was top notch when Kaspersky was stumbling (2007? 2008?) and no doubt in my mind ESET reigned supreme into 2009 even.... but I think times are changing and Norton is catching up, and even MS has a great solution. So before I buy another license or switch over to Norton I figure I'll try out MS as it's free. I've heard some rave reviews even from system admins who have sworn by ESET since version 2.0... let's see how this performs.

i've tried many, many different anti-viruses and I have decided that Kapersky and MSSE are the best choices. MSSE works almost as good as Kapersky, but is free, and takes up fewer resources. AVG is good too, but I personally prefer MSSE

of course, limited account is one of the best things you can do.

NOD32 is a joke at this point. even Norton is better at detecting viruses than NOD32 now, and we all know that Norton isn't all that great...

I had no end of problems with Kaspersky stopping WHS from backing up my computers, I had to uninstall it and use MSSE now.

Good thread, will have to look into the steadystate program. Thus far been happy with MSSE, firefox with noscript, and being careful.
