So in my quest to get a better image at a reasonable price I'm now looking at the options that Anand posted on the 19 inch monitor round up. So given that the first choices for reasonably priced 19 inch LCDs he suggested the viewsonic q190mb and the Nutech L921G. I can't find the nutech or the exact viewsonic, but I did find the Viewsonic VE910B. I can't figure out what the diference is between the VE910B and the Q190MB. Does anyone have any insight on whether they are the same?

Edit: Okay, after doing some looking on what is available in my price range and looking at the specs on this BenQ has anyone got one of these that can recommend it?

^ after much, much looking into LCDs I find that while the L90D+ is not a perfect monitor you just cant beat what you get for the price, anything else thats better at that size is going to cost at least 100$ more. .

edit: My comment is on the assumption that you want a gaming LCD.

I think the L90D+'s only obvious weakness is the viewing angles, which doesn't matter for gaming if you're the only person using the monitor. Just don't count on using it as a TV/movie display for multiple friends. Otherwise it is one of the best gaming LCDs, especially for its great price. Thin and "sharp" (looking) bezel, plenty of extras such as pivot and speakers in the back (they?re crap, but they?re completely hidden and out of the way and I?ve actually found use for them twice since I?ve bought it and didn?t have good speakers setup during those odd times).

I think you?d definitely be happy with it.

I'm gonna have to put in a good word for the l90d+ (that is the one u want, not the regular l90). If it is a gaming oriented monitor, u cant go wrong. Like gac009 said, not perfect, although the only thing i could want would be to not have dithering on my monitor, just true 8-bit. The viewing angles dont bother me, but then again, i never have more than 3-4 people watching my monitor in the first place, just try to angle it towards u, and ur good.

sadly I live in Canada and New egg refuses to extend their shipping to us. Tigerdirect.ca sells these monitors, but they are renowned for being over priced. In this case it looks like it might have an ok price for Canadians. I've just mailed Hyundai asking about their warranty on the HYUNDAI L90D+ to make sure that it's honoured here. If it is I'll pick one up. I can't get over the stats on this monitor though. If they're not heavily doctored (like some are) by being measured in questionable methods then I'm all in.

Thanks all.

Well I love mine. Live everyone said the viewing angle isnt always the best, but only one person is look at my screen at a time...me. Its a very nice looking LCD to. Next to the LG LCD this is prolly the best looking one. Very adjustable too. DVI. Oh and another thing that nobody said. You may have to turn the brightness down on it if you do get it cuz its like staring into the sun. Its very bright by default. Other than that its amazing.

OK, so I saw in another thread that people also like the Samsung 915N and it is about $30 cheaper Canadian. Is the common thought that the Hyundai is still a better monitor?

Don't the L90+ have a problem with dead pixels? I'm basing this on the fact that NCIX.com refuses to cover them with their Zero Dead Pixel policy..

So I may just be crazy, but since I am also in the market for an LCD I wouldn't mind knowing

yes, seems to be a thing with the lower cost monitors. I'm not sure that it's NCIX, or rather Hyundai as the Tigerdirect page simply advises to refer to the Hyndai Warranty. I know that BenQ has the same thing with their lower end LCDs. Not sure why anyone would be satisfied to buy a product that had it written in the warranty on how broken something has to be before you can return it. I have sent Hyudai an e-mail asking for more info on their warranty as it's not listed on line. I want to hear from anyone that has insight into how much better/worse the Samsung 915N is compared to the Hyndai L90D, if the Hyndai is the clear winner I know what I want to get, but will base it on Warranty as well once I know which of the two is better.... any thoughts?

I believe that both the samsung 915N and the L90D+ both use the exact same panel.....right? I thought thats what I read in toms review but I may be getting confused. The benifit of the L90D+ is DVI which while it may not change your life is still definatly a very good thing.

interesting, well the Hyundai has more movement settings, DVI input and most importantly is cheaper than the Samsung... My only issue now is that it is damn near impossible to buy in Canada. I've only found that Tiger direct sells them and they are renowned for being over priced.

OK, so I picked up the Hyundai L90d+
I'm sorry to bump this thread, but I need to add a couple of comments to this (and all the other threads through out Anandtech on the Hyundai L90D+ becuase after doing a great deal of research I finally bought one and it's fantastic. I need to clarify a couple of things though that may detract from the purchase of one now that I have picked one up.
After doing a great deal of research I found that the return policy on these monitors is 5 dead pixels and only then will they take it back. It's quite common for 1 or 2 dead pixels to be shipped and when you recieve it you have no recourse unless the dealer themselves will go over and above the manufacturers warranty. I live in Canada and I only found 2 companies that retailed the monitor and neither company would take a return no questions asked (Tigerdirect.ca and NCIX.com). Looking into the entire practice of purchasing the L90D whatever country you live in I have found that you should NOT purchase one on line. Go to a bricks and mortar store, pick one out, and then make sure you test it in the store before you pay for it. I bought from Tigerdirect who it turns out have a store in Markham Ontario. I talked at length with a technician who tests/fixes whatever is required. He said that he quite often has people come in and go through 5 or 6 of the L90D+ before he finds one that has no dead pixels. He said I lucked out because we got a good one first try. He didn't seem like a disgruntled employee so I'm going to take him at his word. He went on to say that if you get a monitor that works then it shouldn't really have any problems after that. As far as I can see this is a great choice and the best bang for the buck around. Pick one of these up for sure, but as I said, test it first.

Samsung are weird. They have 50 different models out at any given time.

Try figuring out the differences between a 930b, a 913b and a 940b.
