What is the best way to clean a monitor screen?

Trust me guys, you can ruin a monitor that has an anti-glare coating on it. Alcohol dries up that coating over time. I ruined a 17 diamontron monitor after about 6 months because I used the alcohol based wipes. The best product to use for CRTs with anti-glare coating and LCD montiors is Klear Screen. I've used this for over 3 years and it's by far the best product for these type of monitors. Hope this helps.

# A nice homemade concoction for the cleaning fluid is to get something around 50% isopropyl alcohol. Isopropyl alcohol is a nice all purpose cleaner that can also be used to clean your heatsink. You can find 90% pure isopropyl alcohol at a local drugstore, but DO NOT USE it at full strength!! Mix at least 1 part water to 1 part of the alcohol to water it down. This approximately 50% mixture is the recommended cleaning method by Apple! Everyone that we've recommended this to has told us it worked EXCELLENETLY!
# Do not use any harsh detergents, especially anything like Windex or any product that contains amonia. Strong cleaning and amonia products can etch the screen surface and can cause the plastic to become cloudy or streaked.

Usually we recommend you stay away from anything even remotely abbrasive, such as paper towels, or old clothes.

good thing i asked, i didnt think monitor cleaning was so hard, to bad it isnt as easy as spraying a can of air at it.

i used a damp cloth with some water and thated worked pretty good.

on another note
I have killed so many keyboards by spilling drinks and whatnot.

It sucks
Now i have the Mx duo and i make sure not to put my drinks around the keyboard.

I really would not go mixing up your own chemical concoctions for cleaning expensive screens.

Windex and stuff like that cleans cheap, entry level monitors fine, but they have no coating to worry about.

As I said before, I reccomend spectacle cleaner. Make sure you get a brand reccomended for cleaning camera lenses also - if it won't hurt the coatings on spectacles and camera lenses, it isn't going to hurt the computer screen.

having said that, don't apply direct to the screen, use on a cloth and use as little as possible. Most of the gunk should come off with the first water wipedown.

I keep a hatchet near my monitor and threaten to amputate any fingers that prod it...
