What is the best way to strip all audio from a clip in imovie?

I have to use Imovie (i don't know what version) so suggestions of other software is no help. How can i delete the audio from a clip and integrate audacity recorded audio, for example? Also, i am having a lot of trouble saving my Imovie project. I saved it after major editing was done but i am finding it extremely difficult to save further. Is there something built into imovie that says you can only save a project once before export? I tried saving directly to my network drive before saving it to the local disk and both failed. I would hope not but for whatever reason, i must do the second phase of editing, the minor edits, all in one sitting which can be difficult to tackle sometimes. Is there something i'm missing about saving imovie projects or is this just a freak think that happens in this computer lab? Thanks in advance for any help! I won't be able to do anything until tomorrow at about 12pm or so. Thanks again!

Drag the clip down to the timeline and chose

Advanced > Extract Audio (Command-J)

in the menu bar. The audio is now separate in one of the audio timelines and you can delete it.

You can't fully integrate a sound file in a video clip. But you can drop the sound file in the timeline zone and once you've synched it with the video, chose the sound bar and click

Advanced > Fix Audio Clip at this Position (Command-L)

in the menu bar. If you insert or cut out video material, the imported sound track will move with the video you fixed it to. (So it is in iMovie 5 in German, the English translation may differ)

Maybe this computer lab isn't adjusted for video editing. In video editing big amounts of data are pushed around (in standard DV it's about 3 MB/s) and I don't know how efficient iMovie is at writing changes in movie projects. Also maybe your personal space on the server is too small for your project. Whatever it is, it looks like it's not your fault and you can't do something against this...

I'm not trying to save it onto my personal area on the server because that didn't work in the first place. Instead, i have saved it to the general purpose student drive where there is plenty of space (like a lot of space) and should have plenty of bandwidth. It could be the server and the drive but i think its Imovie since i was able to save it in the first place.
