What is the big draw to The Cheesecake Factory?

At least around here I frequently hear about long lines and 1+ hour long waits even during off peak times. We went there once and the food didn't seem worthy of the constant wait times but maybe I didn't order the right thing? Is it the massive menu? Not a big cheesecake fan so can't judge their quality there.

The food sucks. Like seriously... it fucking sucks. It tastes meh and is overall overpriced.

Skip the lines and go right up to the counter and pick up a slice or two of the cheesecake and have a dinner elsewhere.

Man when I was younger Cheesecake Factory around me got pretty hot. Go figure, I mean I was growing up 40 minutes outside of Manhattan, where you could find any good restaurant, or just stay in Northern NJ and still find another good restaurant - so why go to Cheesecake Factory?

Beats me. I ate there twice ever, it's been 16-20 or so years since, and I haven't been back.

I do remember one of the two times there the couple across the way from us the dude had in a giant Motorola blinking bluetooth headset in his ear for the entire dinner and I was like WTF. It was when bluetooth headsets were cool, but that wasn't cool. At all.

Never been there so can't answer. I thought it was like some chain bakery that specialized in cheesecake, and was like WTF when I found out it was like a normal restaurant that had cheesecake (after someone recommended getting mac 'n cheese there, so then I thought it was like some place where they take foods kids like but make them "gourmet" and expensive).

If I started a restaurant, I'd name it something and then deliberately not offer that, just to see people's reactions which I'd livestream on Youtube.

it has a huge menu so it's easy to satisfy just about any group. that's about the only plus I can see. the food isn't great but it's not Chili's terrible.

Cheesecake factory has many varieties of cheesecake and other cakes in a giant display fridge section right at the entrance.

Chilis and Friday's I won't even touch anymore.

It's not that I'm too good for them or anti-corporate or anything... They have all just legitimately dropped in overall quality. Food wise and guest wise.

I would rather pick up a burrito bowl at Chipotle over any of those places.
