How much less? Depends on geographic location and how may people earn and depend on that salary.

One person, in Texas, is median. In HI you would be homeless.

im trying to write a paper on people who work minimum wage, and their abilities to afford insurance.
by minimum wage, im referring to a Server at a restraunt, or a unskilled laborer, so im figuring a wage of <30k.

minimum wage working 40 hours a week is <$12k per year, unless your in california where minimum wage is like $10. 30K is by no means poverty

CA minimum wage is $6.75 (about $14,000/year), except in San Francisco ($8.50). Other states have higher minimum wages than we do, such as CT ($7.40), DC ($7.00), and OR ($7.50). Source: US Dept of Labor

but see, i work for $2.13 an hour, and i can guarantee, in a year, working full time as a server, i could pull in 30 grand. tonight, i made $190 in 11 hours of work. not including $2.13

which, by definition, i am still a minimum wage. however, tips vary. so im gunna go with $20k or less a year.

Geez.... in that case.... Somebody needs to explain to me how Bush's Tax Cuts for the Rich didn't help me :|

Apparantly I'm rich and my taxes have been going up! :| :| :|

also as that link says, it depends on number of dependants. if you have two kids your 15G/yr isn't going to cut it, but if you live with one working adult, or by yourself and have no children you are above the poverty line.

one more post and i'm at 5000!

Look, yet another wayward soul has been enlightened.

Welcome to the elite club of the evil super-rich bastards who are killing the world and want to eat poor children for breakfast.
