In Outlook 2002, if you go to the Files menu and choose Import and Export, you can choose a file type to create and designate which folder or folders (including Contacts) you wish to export to that file type. Then you can import on the other machine. I'm not certain about earlier versions of the application. I'm a newcomer to the Office suite.

I'm also looking to copy my address / Contacts from my office laptop to my home p/c. Both are Outlook 2007 and both are WinXP. And where do these files live? At work we use Exchange on a network so I know the .pst's live on a 'home directory' share that all employees have....but at home it's just a standalone.

Thanks much.....

In most Exchange installations people do not have .pab files anymore. You contacts are included in your data that resides on the Exchange server.

So then if i find a .pab file on my work server (home directory), copy it and bring it home....i can just install on my home p/c and it will come up in my contacts and/or address book listing? Also, where do i install locally?

Thanks in advance.

At work: File Menu > Export to a file (CSV or PST) > Select your Contacts...

At home: File Menu > Import...

Check with your company's IT policy before doing this!

Thanks.

This is partially correct. While the exchange address book is now an oab, just like pst vs ost, both do get downloaded and stored locally and then updated when needed. You can find all sorts of different converters and readers to get into the files without the exchange server being available.

And generally speaking, they are located in c:\documents and settings\%username%\local settings\application data\microsoft\outlook, along with the nlk, which is the chached past email addresses sent.
