With layovers I've traveled for more than 24 hours.
Yup, my longest would be ~30 hours. At least three layovers but nothing more than 3 hours.
Hong Kong to Chicago, little over 14 hours. And that was when I learned not to fly United for international (which I idiotically repeated for my flights to and from Germany this spring). They have the crappiest entertainment systems. Last time when I flew out with Luftansa they had larger video screens and it was on demand even in economy.
Sooooo, 9 hours of layover plus 21 hours of flying?

United's 744s won't be getting AVOD in economy (I assume you were flying economy, since the 744 business isn't too bad). Their premerger 772s are getting upgraded to AVOD as well as a change from 2-5-2 to 3-3-3 in Y. Premerger Continental 777s and 757s are great in economy, from an entertainment aspect.
American's 757s haven't been updated either in the longest time. The seats flat-out suck. There's like 18 of them flying around that have been upgraded, but those are dedicated to international TATL segments afaik. Good luck getting one domestically, since there's like 106 of them flying around.
We seem to have quite a lot of travelers, whats the most beautiful place you have been to?
I was on their 777 and 767 for the European trip and coming back from Hong Kong I think it was one of their 747. The on-demand entertainment was reserved for first class from what I saw. I think I flew from Europe to Hong Kong on British Air and they also had the on-demand stuff. It seems like a stupid think to pick on but honestly it made a difference during a 8-14 hour flight.

UA's 747s are pretty much reserved for TPAC flying. UA896 (HKG-ORD) is a 744-operated flight. Sucks to be in Y in a United 744, but it's not too shabby if you're in BF or GF.
Once you get an upgraded 772 (non-CO), I'd wager you'd have a better experience. If you have to fly on United economy again back to HKG, get yourself on CO99 (EWR-HKG). Or any other CO flight from Newark. Same thing if you go back eastbound. And yeah, I'd be pretty inclined to agree with you, unless you have a magical laptop that has a 15 hour battery and gets wireless connectivity 5 miles off the ground
WTF?
Etihad had on-demand entertainment on a 4 hour flight from Abu Dhabi to Hyderabad, India. This was on an Airbus A320.
Air India has has awesome infotainment too.. on their 777s. I am not so sure about Lufthansa though.. because I didn't like it when I traveled in 2007.. I think they upgraded most of their international flights.
No, this was a 747, but no I see that it was US Airways but operated by United and now that I look it up, I flew Scandanavian Air to Europe and Lufthansa to Hong Kong. Those were nice flights but the United flights I did not care for. Particularly since they lost our luggage, delayed the flight so that I would miss other travel arrangements and didn't inform my girlfriend that she needed a transit visa for our connection.
