I think the same thing about the first person that looked at a lobster or crab and thought, "Boy, I bet that'll taste great!"

Luckily for us, that person was correct.

Think about the people that had to find posioned food the hard way, "Bob? How's them berries? Bob, Bob...?"

eel soup in Hong Kong. they didn't tell me they were serving the little bastard alive.

Speaking of "live" things consumed. I was at a sushi/seafood place, and there was "sweet shrimp" on the menu so we ordered. They brought 4 jumbo shrimp to our table, alive and flippin', then used this plastic kinfe-thing to shuck the shell off the while leaving the head intact... feet and feelers flailing.

We were instructed to dip it in some red beam paste, and enjoy "while fresh". It tasted alright, but I didn't care for the texture.

I had a semi-comparable experience in the sixth grade. We were on a skipjack, and pulled an oyster pot out of the water. The guy pulled the opened the live oyster, and I ate it.

I ate a live spider on a dare, as far as food goes I'd have to say Sweetbreads(the pancreas of a young sheep or cow) yummy if prepared correctly

We have moose burgers and moose steaks etc. up here in Alaska. But moose are just like giant deer, so it's not that exotic.

Eww. Why don't you just eat some rats and cockroaches while you're at it?

probably not the pigeons you see in the park in NYC... there are pigeons specially raised for food (especially pigeoon soup). The carrier pigeons are extinct because of overhunting for food.

edit: btw, I'll try anything once. There are all sorts of intentionally "gross" foods, i.e. suckers with crickets in them, chocolate covered ants, etc. I've had most of those things. Also, alligator, bear (I don't consider bear to be exotic though... all it takes is one friend to get lucky and there's plenty of bear meat to go around), elk, escargot, etc. Never had monkey on a stick (wtf is that?!) or some of the other weird things... but that's because I never had the opportunity to try them. (and, I'd probably go for the lobster tail, broiled, before I'd order some of those things, just to try them)
