Starcraft 1 - Runs fine on my crappy old laptop, great lan game and strong single player story makes it hard to get away from.

Guild Wars - My friends and I would play this game nightly for years, it was more of a virtual hang-out at times than a game.

Day of Defeat: Source - For the $20 bucks I spent on this I've probably logged several thousand hours. now that's a value proposition!

Black Isle RPGs - 'Nuff Said

Bioware RPGs - the KOTORs always satisfy that Jedi itch (its not contagious I swear baby), the Mass Effects (although 3 pretty much killed this series for me) and Dragon Age get a ton of love from me. Going through a DA:O play through at the moment in fact. Human Mage Origin.

Day of Defeat from 1.3 to this day. Roughly 12 years of helping others improve their k:d ratio.
Diablo II and LoD got some serious mileage, but nothing comes close to DoD.

I miss the grease gun and the para maps

Dota - I had about 1500 games in TDA, 300 or so in THR, a bunch in dotacash.
Probably over 2250 total hours.

Back in the day, it was Tanarus. Anyone remember that? I can't imagine how many hours I put into that in the late 90s. I wish Sony would give up the source code so a legit fan version could be released.

Fallout 3 & NV would probably be up there, too. I've played both games multiple times over the last few years.

I've spent countless hours on Burnout Paradise. I've played through it numerous times on PC and bought it and the DLC on X360 to play the island after it was announced they weren't doing it for PC. It's my fun, relaxing game.
Other than that, I'd say Borderlands 1 & 2 and Just Cause 2 (great to grapple, fly drive, etc all over the islands!)

Need For Speed Porsche Unleashed, I think I played through that 10 or so times.

Great game. I've tried going back but I've had trouble getting it to run on my Win7 box.

To add to the list:

Shogo: Mobile Armored Division. Still runs on modern systems. I hate anime but I love this FPS.

Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. I've had a bitch of a time getting it to run on modern systems so I am relegated to playing it on my dad's machine (he still runs WinXP).

Well over 2000 hours in Left 4 Dead 2! Can't wait until Left 4 Dead 3!

Over 200 hours in Simcity 5!

Time to be overwhelmed with nostalgia and subsequently astonished by how many hours were actually spent making those memories. >.<

Here's my mileage of my top 10 to the best of my guesstimationing ordered by time alotted. The following to include estimated time spent on the game, not solely the time span I've actively played a game (which is likely on/off):

  1. Dark Age of Camelot (2001-2008): ~5200 hours
  2. FFXI (2003-2010): ~3300 hours
  3. Ultima Online (1998-2001): ~2100 hours
  4. StarCraft (1999-2011; very difficult to estimate!): ~1500 hours
  5. Diablo 3 (2012-present): ~900 hours
  6. Dune 2 (1994-1999): ~600 hours
  7. X-Com UFO Defense (1995-2012): ~400 hours
  8. Star Control 2 (1992-present): ~350 hours
  9. Diablo 2 (2000-2007): ~300 hours
  10. Skyrim (2011-present): ~200 hours
Amazing that I have around 15,000 hours on just my top 10. Probably 2x when combined with playing various other titles, lol. So, quite literally 3.5 years of my 33 on this earth were devoted to virtual entertainment (of the PC only; nevermind consoles prior to the PC). Ahh. Good times!

Edit: I forgot the Sim City's! All iterations of those would combine to around 600 hours probably. I still go back and play 4 Deluxe every now and then.

Unreal Tournament 3 and Counter Strike.

But I played Contra and Mario Bros as a kid for 4 hours everyday from grade 4 to grade 10. About 8000 hours on 8 bit games... though I have over 10,000 hours clocked on Counter Strike alone

I don't play games anymore... I feel sad for myself now...

You guys serious, with those small numbers ?

In raw hours, I have you beat in Subspace/Continuum. But you must consider most of the time I have in that game was as AFK. There were times when I would wake up, coast out of a safe zone, nail somebody who knew I was afk for the past 8 hours, go back into the safe zone and go to work/school. When I came back home I would do it again. I might chat for a few hours, but I did not actively play that many hours. The problem is that the !usage command has been reset several times since Vie lost the license and various player run servers took over.

You guys serious, with those small numbers ?

I had 300 days /played on my rogue in World of Warcraft. That is 7200 real hours. I was unusual, as I mostly played on only one character. But I also had a prot warrior with 40 days played. And a few low-level alts. I would say approaching 9k hours total. And then I spent several thousands hours reading about the game. Forums, Elitist Jerks, raid strategy guides, reading about theorycraft, etc.

10000+ Hours total, wasted on WoW. Probably around 12k ? In about 7 years time. From Feb 2005 till Jan 2012. With a few breaks (one of 15 months, one of 6 months, and a few 1-3 month breaks). Suppose I was subscribed for 5 years. That's 6 hours per day, every day of the week, for 5 years.

The sad thing is, there were several people in my guild that spent a lot more time playing WoW then I did. All grown men, 25+ years old, some in their 30s or 40s. With jobs, wifes and children. Some of them are still playing today.

I was actually subbed for a total of around 3-4 years between release day and maybe 2 months into Pandaria. When i started I was in marriage with a non-gamer time-possessive wife. I did get her playing in vanilla for a bit and when we played together i logged 40+hrs a week for a long stretch, but yeah, that doesn't keep up. Anyway, after that marriage ended i had some time but then met someone else, less possessive but also non-gamer, and after a bit more time we have two kids. So my gaming time went from 20-25hrs a week before the kids down to now maybe 5-10 max? lol. hey it is what it is, i always fought impacts on my "free time" but i'm finding i don't care or even notice it much most of the time now.

Definitely nice to get a long play time here and there. Trouble is that when i do get to play something nowadays i can't commit to staying connected as things tend to come up and i'm wanted elsewhere. So that leads me to playing lone wolf style in MMOs, which i'm fine with but it does restrict access to some content/areas of most of them which in turn limits longevity.

Have to say I'm not proud of the time I sank into Morrowind (and Oblivion).

But in the long run - spider solitaire! My PC is so slow these days I get games in while waiting for it to start up other applications.

The kings bounty series for me easily. I played that one on the train to and from work. Probably racked up a couple thousand miles while playing it.

Subspace - 3000+ hours since late 1996. Started in the early beta. Can't believe it's been ~17 years

CSS : You can fire it up, frag a few rounds and go do something else.

Dragon Age Origins: Love the lore and story, good combat system and fun to revisit with a different party.

My timewaster game with the most hours would probably be Space Cadet 3D Pinball. Maybe Freecell as a close second.
