What is the most painful way to die?

I'm gonna go ahead and guess desiccation.

Desiccation refers to the drying out of a living organism, such as when aquatic animals are taken out of water, or when plants are exposed to sunlight or drought.


What if a human being fell into a vat full of silica gel? would the process of being slowly dried to death be painful?

However the height of gruesome killing has to be the middle ages. The things they did during the inquisitions would make most peoples skin crawl.

This has merit to it. While I certainly wouldn't want to die by any method posted here, with all the gruesome methods the pain is physical (and hopefully adrenaline will kick in, as someone mentioned).

However, dying alone would probably induce "emotional pain" or something like that. No one around to say goodbye or talk you through it; just you and your thoughts. I reckon contemplating your last moments and what will become of you is very unpleasant. I doubt you would have time to be philosophical if you are killed by being processed through a blender.
