I was in Vegas a couple of years ago and got hungry for sushi at lunch. Wandered into the sushi bar and asked the chef behind the bar to just start serving me and stop when I told him to stop. The total was about $300 including tip for just me.

Probably around $100. I don't go out for lunch during the week, and on the weekends, I'd much rather go out for dinner to nice places. I suppose I've spent a few hundred on lunch, but it was usually with my GF's parents as well.

probably like $20 going overboard at the sushi shop by my office.

99% of the time, my lunch is just taking a walk out to pickup food and taking it back to eat at my desk ... my typical lunch is usually either $6 at the halaal lunch truck for chicken & rice or $10 for a burrito bowl at the fake-Chipotle place, though.

Around $30 for myself. Don't think I've ever spent more than $100 combined on a dinner for 2.

Had some pretty expensive meals on business or on other people. Could never bring myself to spend that much out of my pocket though. Heck I get pissed that a combo at Carl's Jr or Wendys is like $8+ these days lol.

I used to work at a place we'd spend about 50 bucks at least each of us going out, just as a once a month party type thing.

Actually might have been a lot more on Christmas parties that would start at lunch, I didn't keep a tab.

When it was time to have a party, we just did it.

Was never in a job we did big business lunches and that was just a manufacturing place.

I just bring lunch from the house most the time these days.

Yeah, I can see that getting really expensive really fast. This place is just a sushi restaurant though, no naked ladies.

Our bill was $350 and we left a $50 tip. D:

Where did you go for sushi? We usually went to Love Boat in San Marcos, but even with sake my brother and I never spent more than ~$85

Not myself, but back in my banking days in the mid-90's. 3 or 4 of us would drop $200-300 for lunch pretty easily.

Usually for lunch I spend about $15 on average.

Our sushi was cold and our sake was warm.

That's 15%. Fuck, all she did was move the food from the sushi bar to our table which was 3' away. She did make a decent martini though.

all most servers do is move food and drinks from point A to B.

We went to lunch at Mama's Fish House on Maui with another couple. Appetizer, lunch, and two drinks each...$350 + tip.

I was there a year or so back, I didn't think it was all that great. Ate at the Four Seasons the next night, and it wasn't all that special either.

The most ever? Took the entire company to lunch and to see the first Lord of the Rings movie. I think it was about $400 - $500, but that includes the cost of the tickets. Probably only a couple hundred on food.

My son and I used to eat lunch on our own frequently, and my target was $5 including tax for both of us. This did not last. $50 is now common for the two of us, but the restaurant usually AYCE still feels the pain.

Most expensive lunch, maybe $150, but none of usually drink anything expensive.

I used to have a $100 burger every once in awhile, but that included flying the plane to Catalina then eating a buffalo burger at the airport cafe.

You tipped that little?! I proclaim this to now be a tipping thread where we will all debate whether the tips makes you a terrible person or not. I vote terrible person
I'm obviously not au fait with US tipping customs, but I was under the impression that 14% (which is $50 in $350) was an okay amount.

Idk, maybe $15-20. I try to avoid doing that though. My meals are normally <$3 with them frequently being $1 or less. I try to spend <$5 a day on food.

I don't like eating out because it's frivolous.

A little under $200 at Le Bernardin after tax and tip. I had the 4 course dinner for lunch, added 2 extra courses to it, and a $10 tea. It was nice, but not really worth it. This was the week before I moved away from North NJ/NYC to Minneapolis and decided to treat myself.

A friend and I accidentally caused a change in policy at work.

We used to have "Tech lunches" where our team leader would take us out for a lunch meeting and we'd talk about our projects and statuses.

A friend and I would often go to Applebees for lunch, and they had a steak fillet and salad lunch for $7.99. It was pretty good and cheap.

We went to this fancy place we never heard of for the meeting, and we both said "do you have a fillet and salad lunch?"

"The waitress said "Sure! We can do that!"

We ate our lunches, and then got the bill: we had filet mignons and Caesar salads, at $55/each! Our leader was afraid to turn in the expense report

A week after that, we all got a memo that lunch expenses will cover $12 max, and we'll have to pay the difference out of pocket. Whomp whomp.

Noted as one of the most expensive restaurants to eat at.

If you need the services they offer it's a good thing, if you don't probably not so special.
