Phantom 3 drone as far as recent nice things.

Only flew it for a short time, since I've been working and got it a few days ago so have not had much chance. It's already broken in though, there's grass stains on the props. I'm off starting tomorrow so hopefully it's nice out and I'll take it out for a spin and get some aerial footage. It flies really nice compared to the smaller one I had.

Downside is the new drone rules here basically make it illegal everywhere as one of the rules says you can't be within 75m of buildings, animals or people. Another one says you can't be within 8km of any place an aircraft can land or take off, that counts even the hospital helipad which is maybe 2km away.

I'm hoping as long as I'm being careful and use common sense cops will leave me alone though. They probably have better things to do than shutting down someone operating a drone who is not bothering anyone.

Completely frivolous? Probably some kind of whisky, or maybe my tobacco collection. For something that can be justified... I don't know. I don't really get extravagant things. I prefer functional quality. I don't buy baubles.

So over the last four years, I've bought myself a new gun every week. Typically $500-$3000 apiece. This week was a Glock 17 cutaway (super rare) and next week is a Nighthawk 1911.

Couple of years ago I bought $8000 in headphones one month.

Ice fishing house or indoor outdoor latrine?
Grow tent for growing things.

In my case the nicest thing I can think of recently would be my 40T RAID5 box. Although I also like the low-end Cannondale that I got.

Tons of Belgian beers over the last 5 years.
My first built desktop, watercooled for ~$3k way back in the day.
Coming soon: I'll be building a NAS as a storage solution for all my pr0n I mean linux distros.

That's about it as far when I've felt I "treated" myself. Otherwise it's just normal needs/wants.

Actually my overall best thing was probably my file server, as far as utility value and expense. At least 3k went into that, but it's very expandable and serving me well basically every day as all of my data is on there. It's also very expandable as I can keep adding more drives or replace older drives with larger ones, all live.

Doesn't the cutaway defeat the purpose of having a barrel?

The cutaways are for demonstration purposes only, though they are treated as real guns since it's technically possible to replace the cutaway slide and have it fire.

https://us.glock.com/products/model/g22cut

GLOCK cutaway models are produced for technical and firearms training. These models are always a main attraction at training classes, presentations, and tradeshows because they clearly illustrate the ingeniously simple internal mechanisms of the GLOCK pistol. They are sold exclusively to law enforcement agencies.

While they are supposed to be sold to law enforcement only, I now have five of them.

Couple of cars, house, Daughter, education came free.
What kind'a car man? Also, how much is a daughter? I've got an extra, so I'm wondering about market rates... also did you grow it yourself, buy new, or get it on the secondary market?

This summer car was a mini Cooper convertible, which turned out to be the most funnest thing with 4 wheels I've driven.

Daughter cost was about 6 or 7 grand for one round of IVF. I wasn't paying too much attention to the cost at the time as it's not something where you can worry too much about the cost.

Wow its cheaper to IVF in the isles is less than a nothing-needed baby in the states!

I've been considering the mini convertible... but I live in a place that rains 200 days a year: is it really worth it for those other days?

Well that's only for the actual getting things started stuff, the rest of it (birth and anti natal care) comes under the NHS in the UK. If it's your first kid you get the IVF free as well!

I'm loving mine and I live in the UK, we get a touch of rain! That said visibility out of the back is laughably bad with the roof up, it's pretty bad with the roof down as well!
My area is pretty perfect for it I guess, it's lots of windy lanes that I know really well. If you had to spend lots of time on major roads I suppose the fun aspect would go down. You want somewhere you can drive it like a go cart!
